  1. Yep just keep going at it. Tomorrow I'm going to where I killed my 8 last year opening day if gun. It's been getting a ton of pressure and they get pushed way back to where I'm going. Just usually dont get this pressure until gun and this spot hasn't been touched in months. Told my wife now I remember why I dont pass much because I don't see much. Lol
  2. Oh my bad thanks for the correction. I've seen videos it doesn't look like it would be fun.
  3. Just checked my bowhunter log. 37hrs on stand 11 deer spotted. It's been rough this year for me. 4 bucks 4 does 1 fawn 2 unknown
  4. I will note watch out for the newer f250s I hear they have a steering issue if you hit a bump just right you cant steer. It's called the death wobble videos on YouTube of it.
  5. Nothing today did have a buck come in the dark and rub the piss out of the trees about 80yards up the hill. I'm pretty sure he bedded down there because I never heard him walk off. Then about 8 I had deer blowing off to my right. I'm guessing a coyote because I was in thick stuff so no way they saw me and wind was blowing from their direction. Couldn't tell if it was 1 or 2 deer. Weather man was wrong again said no rain until 11 came in at 830. Buck was up above those pines in the last picture View from my stand.
  6. I have a 2009 f150 4x4. It's got 170k I've put 120k on it myself had it for 6 or 7 years now. Cant complain besides tires and breaks never had an issue put new plugs in it last year and that's it. Does good in 4x4 only thing I dont like is the ass end is really light but that's pretty common in the fords from the ones I've driven. I will say I almost bought the Chevy sitting next to it but my truck was 4k cheaper with less miles and 2 years newer.
  7. Didn't see any today. However at about 7 I heard a deer coming down the ridge towards the bowl I was in. Shortly after i hear him destroying trees then nothing so I think he bedded down above me. Never heard him walk away or keep rubbing trees. Which isn't uncommon in that spot. Then about 8 I had a deer blowing about 70-80 yards to my right. No way it saw me or winded me it was blowing complete opposite direction i was thinking a coyote. good news is on the way out I saw the handy work of a buck he had about every sapling ripped up and 3 or 4 scrapes. Finally have some sign to show they are there.
  8. First of all welcome Look for pinch points, transition areas, water is always a good spot to look for these. Right now bucks are laying down a bunch of sign so look for rubs and scrapes. Deer especially bucks change patterns from summer to fall. So if you saw them there during the summer they could have moved to better areas for the fall. Sometimes it's ok to still hunt and risk the chance of bumping deer out of bed so you can figure out where they are. Also remember your on stateland and there is very good stateland in NY but that means theres more pressure and you dont know if someone else has been in there. So my last advice is hunt the hunters. If you figure out where the other hunters are the deer are probably not there. My luck and experience is that the deer will only be in certain pockets on stateland you just have to find it. Good luck and the season is just picking so hang in there.
  9. Took tomorrow off so I now have a 4 day weekend. Hitting up a stand me and my brother put up in july. It's on my small piece of private I hunt. Finally have the wind and with that storm coming in hoping they move before rain hits around 1. Sitting dark until 1 or 2. Seemed like all the deer last year kept sneaking into this bedding area past our stands and last year we finally found there entry. It'll be the last weekend I take a doe until gun so either a doe or good buck is getting an arrow. I dont like taking does the last 2 weeks because you just never know what's following.
  10. Got an extra day off tomorrow. Looks like rain is going to hold off until 1. It's the start of my dark to 2pm sits. Checked trail came dates and looks like most the bucks are on the little piece of private I hunt tuesday-thursday.
  11. Wont help but my brother had the same issue with his '12 f150. Ended up being a sensor in the transmission. Wonder if it's the same type of thing? He lucked out and it had a recall on it I guess.
  12. Moog just so you know we hunt whitetails in NY not moose. He's a great buck hope you get a chance at him.
  13. Oxford hardware had federal 209 primers last friday. I just don't know if they were 209A. I think they are the federal premium 209 primers.
  14. Take whatever makes you happy. If that little one gets your blood pumping take him if not try holding out for that big one.
  15. Ok I thought there was a day that was just insane last year not sure why I was thinking about it.
  16. Is it me or wasn't there a day last year around Halloween that a bunch of people on here tagged bucks? Sorry off topic not trying to hijack the thread just kinda popped in my head.
  17. Not all of them are smart. 12 years ago a couple farmers I helped out hit a huge 8. It ended up getting lodged in the combine. Still hard to believe he has that type of injury and no limp.
  18. That sucks rob. Atleast you saw some and a clean miss is better than a bad hit.
  19. Feel the same. I keep telling myself 3 more weekends and I have vacation days. I've been skunked a lot this year.
  20. Nothing today on the new piece. I'll be hunting all my other planned spots and save this new chunk for gun/muzzle loader. Not wasting to much time on a spot I dont have alot of intel. I have 2 doe tags for that area so I'll try filling them there.
  21. Absolutely nothing. Even though it's got great potential going to stick with my spots I know well. I'll go in during gun since I have doe tags for over there and hunt/scout. Congrats chef & doebuck1234
  22. Up dressed and ready to go. 10 minute drive 25 minute walk. Good luck. Hoping first time into this piece pays off and that rain washed most of our scent out of there after we left. Winds will be blowing at my back on the walk in. But I'll be on a ridge 20yards off the logging trails on a steep part hoping to help have my scent get pulled down and away from meadows above me.

  24. Going to the new spot in the morning I scouted today. I'll have a crosswind and hoping the steep ridge will pull my scent down. Hoping to be setup by 615.
  25. Well day started off good. I got setup on the field edge my brother on the other. 430 i get a text he shot a good buck. Got to his stand about 515. Day went a little worse. Looked at his arrow just a couple pieces of hair no blood. So I had him go to where he shot and place me at the shot location. Well we found a little bit of white hair and 20yards later 1 quarter size drop of blood. I asked what he shot the buck at he said he ranged it at 30. Went back to look and the shot was pushing 45 and he was 12 ft up shooting down hill. Between lack of blood on arrow,no fat,no smell,no blood on the ground and the miss yardage I truly believe he gave him a hair cut. You can see where he jumped stopped(where we found blood) and he walked off. I followed every trail in the area 30 yards after I lost his track and never found any blood and he went through waist high golden rod in some spots. Side note we had 2 bucks following a doe on camera on 10/15 at 12pm. One we believe is the one he hit.
