Stick with it. I went 3 sits in a row with not a sighting then killed one walking out today. You never no.

7p spike running does and grunting.

At 900 i got out of my stand because it was foggy and nothing was going on. The woods were quite so i decided to scout and still hunt the ridge i was on a bit. Didnt find the sign i wanted to see so i got back on the main trail and headed to the truck. I made it about 150yrds when i heard crashing but couldnt see anything through all the young beech trees still all green. I thought it was the flock of turkeys i bumped the day before in the same spot. I made it 10 more yards when i hear what i thought was a grunt. Then. I hear 5 grunts in a row and catch deer about 50yrds in front of me. About that time they take off running with the buck grunting the whole time. So i drop my pack and race 20yrds up the path hoping they go past. As soon as i got up to my spot and knocked an arrow 4 deer rush across it. But i could still hear a buck grunting from the way they came. About 30seconds later the deer i took out stepped out at what i thought was 30. Ended up being 36 dropped into the arrow and it went through front shoulder and lodged in the other hit lung and heart. After he took off i still hear the buck grunting so i knock another arrow since i saw mine fall. Another doe came across i could hear the grunting getting closer so i drew back and out came a maybe 6" spike grunting up a storm. He ended up leaving and since i was giving my deer time to make sure he was 100percent done. I grunted at him and he came back again and blew and left again(did this 3 times). He had to of grunted 30 times. Not getting one in 5yrs wasnt letting one go past and freezer empty it was a first chance i was taking it. Arrow flew perfect finally have a setup i trust. Now time to look for a bit bigger body deer. The little man loved it. Stayed on the truck for 30mins with it. All on a piece of stateland.

Well that was fun. Nothing huge just a button buck. But no deer in freezer last year and being on stateland i wasnt being picky. But it happend fast ill post ehole story in harvest thread it was action packed. Also my first deer with a bow in 5 yrs. Now time to wait for a decent buck or bigger doe.

Up in the tree right on time didnt bump any Walked in with my tshirt and long john so i didnt sweat and normal bottoms. 30degrees frost hasnt set in yet and no wind. Good luck.

Looks like an over grown opossum its so mangy.

Up and ready to go. Short drive but a 30-45 min walk to stand. Hoping to be in tree by 620-630. The only field near by i believe they feed in at night is 400 yrds away so i shouldnt bump any going in. Good luck.

Doesnt take long for yotes to consume a deer. My buddy shot one during gun 2yrs ago in the rain. We went the next morning and started finding hair ended up finding the deer and it looked just like your picture. Maybe 11hrs from when he stopped tracking to when we went after it.

Enjoy the time in the woods. Take what makes you happy. Biggest advice i always give new people tell someone where you are going. Stuff happends and always good if someone knows the area your in. My wife doesnt care where i hunt but i better send her where i end up or she blows up my phone. Other would be practice with which ever weapon your using so it becomes second nature for you.

Stands up for tomorrow. Wind was going a thousand different ways so i didnt push in as far as ide like. I can see a ways through the pines so im hoping if they dont come by close i can still catch them sneaking around me and set up better the next time. Sitting on a small ridge with acorns that feeds down onto a point heading into thick pines and beech. I hope they stop for breakfast before heading to bed

Cant take it anymore. Got home from work at 7. Planned on sleeping until 1 then setting a stand on stateland. Yep didnt happen slept until 11 and im heading out the door.

Holy crap.

Not live from the woods but my front lawn. Had 2 long beards in driveway. Dog noticed them about the time i took the picture so they quickly left.

Im in.

Coming home in the am sleeping until 1130. Getting gear on and sneaking in to stateland to put a stand for saturday. Wind will be perfect to sneak in hang and get right back out. This spot from what ive scouted this summer and last gun should be good. Its in a triangle between 3 bedding areas. With a small stream, oaks and a little green field on private in the middle of the woods.

I agree. Got home told my wife(she new so i really must be living under a rock). But she told me she wants her pistol permit now. So we are going to start that today if i can make it to county office today.

I dont watch much tv so i didnt catch it. I just try to catch up in the paper when i get a minute. Just shook my head.

Thats same area im in. Hunt mostly the 7p side and i have a 36acre spot near hamilton in 7m.

I wouldnt worry seeing how you have does. Im not an expert but is there a chance by trying to help out the area it opened stuff up to much for the bucks and it was a possible buck bedding area seeing how everyone stayed out of that area? I put in 2 plots 3 yrs ago to try and draw them in more. They were just in 2 little strips of golden rod maybe 1/8 -1/4 acre in size. My buck pictures dropped off and didnt see many while hunting. Let it grow back and bucks came back. Even noticed last year thats where the bucks actually bedded.

Ive seen 6 does, alot of rubs and scrapes open up this week. Brothers seen 2 8s missed a 4point and saw 4 does. All same property. Looks like alot of the fawns are really small still from what ive seen and my hunting buddies. Alot of acrons and apples every where i hunt.
