  1. The wife and I have been canning deer meat for many, many moons. It makes the best stew/soup meat going. I found out long ago, that some of the pieces that you would normally grind or give to the dog,can up perfectly. That knarley part, the small muscle by the knee joint that the dog don't even wanna chew.....perfect for the canner. We even take a jar and make stroganoff now and then with sour cream. Or drain the meat good and make pulled venison barBQ.
  2. WOW...all good advice. The buttermilk also works excellent for chicken thighs. Soak them babies over night, and plop them into a covered electric non stick frying pan cook till crispy brown....now im hungry. As far as the soup/stew meat......crock with Lipton onion soup mix or any of what was already posted. We also like to marinade in italian, helps tenderize and get rid of the game-E taste.
  3. This is for 10lbs of fresh sausage. Works real well. Enjoy! 1-TBS white pepper 2-TBS sage 1-Tsp ginger 1-Tsp nutmeg 1-TBS ground red pepper 1-pint ice water 1/2-Tsp cinnamin 2-TBS garlic powder 1-Tsp rosemary leaves 1/4-Tsp seasoned salt 1-TBS onion powder 1-Tsp chili powder 1/4 Tsp paprika 1-TBS italian seasoning Mix that all together in a large bowl, cover and refrig over night. Use salt substitute if need be. I form patties in a patty maker and pack well for the freezer. YUM
  4. What's sad is that it was run AGAIN. Should be a law against it. Our whole family has been big Rem owners forever and have never had a problem, not even once.
  5. My 7mag,an older,(heavy PIG) Rem 700 ADL with SS bbl kicks way less than my newer Rem 700BDL 308. After shooting 2-3shot groups I want to put it away, seriously. The 7mag I could shoot all day,I'm sure the weight and magna porting helps alot though. I'm a big guy and that 308 whoops me but good, actually makes me black and blue. The wifes mod seven 7mm-08 is the sweetest rifle you could ever want to shoot....really shoots good and easy on the shooter.
  6. Well, here is something you may like to read anyway. http://eprn.homestead.com/eprn_001.jpg DNA documentation. http://eprn.homestead.com/index.html Be nice now.Just passing it on.
  7. Either would be fine with 150gr or so round. Took my 1st bear with a 270,1 shot DOA.
  8. Too funny...that would make ya think twice.
  9. This will be my first year hunting NY as a non-res and have no problem paying $280 for the super sportsman as it includes so much. I could belly ache and whine how I am a property owner and pay taxes etc. But why? I feel it's a fair price for one to enjoy the great outdoors NY has to offer.
  10. Hey Fantail..I have property very near there in W.Amboy. I'm told by locals that there are no bear there at all. They tell me go to ADK to hunt bear, cuase I will never see one locally.I have to wonder why though? There are enough swamps around, habitat looks like it would support bear.
  11. 3x9x40 Bushnell Trophy High contrast for $99....so far no complaints.
  12. It looks nice, but too many negatives for me to want it.
  13. A little old couple prepares to go to bed. They no sooner hit the pillows when the old man farts and says, "Seven Points." His wife rolls over and says, "What in the world was that?" The old man replied, "It's fart football." A few minutes later his wife lets one go and says, "Touchdown, tie score." After about five minutes the old man lets another one go and says, "Aha. I'm ahead 14 to 7." Not to be outdone, the wife rips out another one and says, "Touchdown, tie score." Five seconds go by and she lets out a little squeaker and says, "Field goal, I lead 17 to 14." Now the pressure is on the old man. He refuses to get beat by a woman, so he strains real hard, but to no avail. Realizing a defeat is totally unacceptable he gives it everything he's got, and accidentally, he craps in the bed. The wife says, "What the heck was that?" The old man says, "Half time, switch sides."
  14. That's just great........I suppose the monitor and keyboard needed to be cleaned anyway.
  15. Bien fait, c'est un cochon big ! Qui fera beaucoup de bacon et saucisses, lol Well done, that is one big pig! That will make alot of bacon and sausage, lol
  16. I stored mine with the rest of the reloading goods, down in my basement (finished). I run a dehumidifier in the summer. Kept the powder on my desk in the corner. I live next door to most of the firemen here and they were all told what I have, how much, and where it is located. I also kept alot of loaded rounds in the same room. If there was ever a fire, they have this knowledge and can procede from there. I would'nt want them entering my house not knowing.
  17. That dehumidifier works quite well,I have it also and have no complaints.
  18. Make sure that paperwork, pictures etc., are in a fireproof box, inside the safe. The safe alone, will not protect your paperwork etc from burning. The stocks on your rifles will start to burn at ~ 450F......paper much quicker. http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/fplmisc/rpt1464.pdf
  19. We use Midland Xtra-Talk GXT500 and like them alot.
  20. Custom Yugo 24/47 8mm Mauser ( in the works) 1947 M44 izzy mint all matching, but I may hunt a little bit with it. Mint M95 Steyr Manlicher carbine in 8x56R,I will not hunt with.
  21. 33% off the ground blinds at this time. Thinking about grabbing one today.
  22. Old Hickory is my favorite carbon steel kitchen knives. Price is spot on and they take an edge very quick and hold it quite well for "soft" steel. http://www.ontarioknife.com/catalog/item/123 They have a very good spine as well....you don't bend these. Dry them after washing....or suffer the rust,LOL.
