  1. Where in Delaware county exactly? I know we have had a big increase in their population in the Walton area.
  2. This call is brand new in the package and has not left my house. I don't have a pic so I'm using David's website pic. Asking $60 TYD with payment accepted either by money order or paypal as a gift only. PM me if interested.
  3. As we get closer to the youth hunt I will post another thread with the rules. In that thread the participants can post their pics and story. There isn't a sign up, it's open to all youth hunters.
  4. I'm hoping to back out to IL this fall and bow hunt for those big Midwest whitetails. I haven't able to go the last five years because of finances. I miss my friends out there and getting a whole week to bowhunt!!
  5. I have a bunch of turkey calls that I am selling in ebay in anyone is interested. I will list more calls in the next several weeks. Here's the link... http://www.ebay.com/sch/rosalie327/m.html?item=400674298224&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  6. These calls were graciously donated by a member on here that wishes to remain anonymous. Thanks for your donation!!
  7. I just wanted to take a minute to post some of the prizes that will be given away for this year's contest. Hopefully it'll get the youngsters a little excited for the upcoming youth hunt. Two H.S. Strut pot calls which I purchased. One Kevin Poeschel box call which I purchased. Pot call which will be donated by my good friend Matt Wenzel. www.matthewscustomcalls.com Box call which will be donated by my good friends Al and Josh Shoemaker. www.sscustomcalls.com I'm going to see if I can add some more items between now and the start of the youth hunt. Good luck to all the youngsters that will participate. As we get closer I will post up a new thread stating the rules for the contest.
  8. I don't have any actual mounts but this is how I display my beards and spurs. The two on the left are from the 2012 season and the one on the right is from 2013.
  9. I have decided to go with three judges this year. One being myself and the other two have already been chosen. I won't reveal who they are as of right now but I can say that they are two very well respected members of this site. My original intention was to judge myself but I decided to ask for the members input. I don't know anyone on this site outside of just being members but with that being said I don't want anyone to think that I was biased on making the decision of who the potential winner would be. Kids have always held a special place in my heart and I would do just about anything to see them happy. Once again for this contest I have purchased some turkey calls to offer as prizes and a couple of call maker friends of mine have offered to donate a call as well. It should be a lot of fun for the kids and their mentors but most importantly be safe!! I am looking forward to the contest and hope that I have the opportunity to do it for a long time coming. Thanks to those of you that posted your comments on this thread along with those that voted.
  10. Good point and I will definitely consider your idea. The rules will be real simple. 1. Youth hunter needs to post a story of his/her hunt. 2. Youth hunter needs to post a pic of themselves with the bird. The winner will be chosen from the context of their story and the quality of the picture. That's it. They can post the stats of the bird but they will not play a part in the judging. I will post a separate thread outlining the rules as the time gets nearer.
  11. I will be running the Spring Turkey Youth Hunt Contest once again this year. Last year it was done rather quickly and I chose the winner based on the story and picture submitted. This year the rules will be the same. My question is would you guys rather I chose the winner again or should I set it up as a vote by the members?
  12. Good luck and have fun with it!! Post some pics after you make them!!
  13. Start off with the simplest. IMO Slate over a glass soundboard. Start with a 3.5" slate surface and a 3' glass soundboard. BTW you can use a 3" glass soundboard for just about any call. if you'd like to experiment with wood soundboards get some 3" Walnut boards. If you want to try some glass calls et 3.5" bronzed glass for your playing surface and using the same soundboards as above. You'll want to use Plumber's Goop to glue both the soundboards and the playing surface down. Make sure you put enough glue ont he rim of the pot to properly seal the playing surface. If there are any bare spots the call will sound "dead" in those areas.
  14. Are you actually making the calls or are you just putting parts together? Are you buying pots already turned or are you turning your own?
  15. I'll be running a Youth Contest again this year thanks to burmjohn!!
  16. Thanks Terry. Matt stands behind his products 100%.
  17. Those are pretty cool guys!! Keep posting them up boys and girls!!
  18. Thanks Culver. I would definitely mount that deer!!
  19. The circumference measurements are made between the points not randomly correct? i.e. an 8 pointer has 3 on each beam, base, between G1 and G2, between G2 and G3. Or am I wrong?
  20. Very cool!! How does he score almost 100? I'll give him 78 with the measurements given and 8" in total base measurements. Am I missing a measurement?

    New Peep

Here's a product I saw yesterday at the Harrisburg show. Little pricey but heck if it'll help it's worth it. www.perrysnopeep.com
  22. My friend Matt makes custom turkey, deer and duck calls along with other items. Here's one of his totes listed on ebay. Check out his other items for sale as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Paracord-Turkey-Game-Tote-Woodland-Camo-Black-W-2-Drops-/161221219356?pt=US_Game_Calls&hash=item258988941c
  23. Just finished shoveling 4-5" of a slushy heavy mess!!! It was more slush than snow and it sucked!! I've really gotten spoiled with that fluffy snow and using my snow blower.
  24. I normally like winter, however I am so done with it this year!!! I am eagerly looking forward to spring and doing some trout fishing and turkey hunting!!
