Opening day of gun Ought to be interesting! Hard to wait on guys you know will knock down monsters but gotta try to time it out right.

Pulled the rest of the garden. All done for this season. Lots of veges for a couple of boxes made from my old deck!

Hunt #3-10/2 am dark -9:45. Roadkill stand. Didn't see anything , but had a deer behind me in the thick. Right after I settled in the stand could hear - no blowing but a huffing noise like a deer trying hard to wind me. And then what sounded like a deer getting up from a bed at 30 yards. I bet if I pulled cam there would be pics of deer there early morn before I got there. Nothing seen. No hunting this pm supposed to be close to 80. Prob done til next weekend, most likely fishing tomorrow morning. Might go after work one night this week if it looks right and is a little cooler.

Think my deer were bedded 30 yards behind my stand. Got settled in and heard deer, sounded like they were getting up cause they got nervous enough to move.

Can't see the best in this pic but there was a deer there at ,9 this morn. And several other days this week in daylight. Right above these deer on the right side of the frame is our Roadkill stand.

Venison stew with garden carrots and onions over biscuits. Great meal for the weekend opener.

Hunt #2. 4:15-dark. Roadkill stand. Didn't see anything. Horse trainer was out by barns and is very loud and this stand is only a couple hundred yards away. They didn't get done til like 6:30. But got some good Intel on the cam there. This am at 9am two does I was after wiith no fawns were right there at 10 yards. Picked the wrong stand this am. Prob be back here in the morn and see if they repeat that tomorrow.

Back in. Roadkill stand Tonite. Pulled cam card here and of course. 2 big does at 9 am this morn. Go figure. The ones without fawns I was hoping to run into. Maybe tonite

Sorry for your loss and it sounds like everyones loss from such a good person in the world. I lost my Dad a month before he was to retire and it sounds like you were close to her as I was to him. It also sounds a lot like my Mom who I have been worrying a lot about during covid as she also has barely left the house in 18 months and she is considerably older. Spend time with your family and take time to remember all the good times when you can. Hunting and the solitude of the woods will be there when you need it. Very sorry for your loss.

I always see that many deer too. By about hunt #35 or so..... Good on you waiting for a closer shot - lol

Opening morn. Great to be back out. Zero deer seen. ( This will be a regular thing this year. In this spot I am going to hunt all season if you see a deer it's usually in shooting range. It's so thick) But it sure felt good. Nice morning. Hunt #1 PineTree stand. Light -10. Then breakfast with my buddy.
