  1. Reminder. Starts Monday. First week picks in by midnight Sunday. Other thread is started for picks and scores.
  2. Still getting some fishing in. Beautiful day to be on the water.
  3. I'm gonna need you to hunt in the rain. Your my first week pick in the pic em contest. But no pressure.... Lol
  4. While Corey was out there today he took a couple of food plot pics. Looks pretty good. Hopefully will draw in a couple extra late season deer.
  5. Very sorry to hear. Good dogs should go on forever but luckily you got to spend all that time with him and all those memories.
  6. Corey went over and changed out all the cam cards today. Only buck is a three point, the same one as before in the same spot. Seems like there is 5 resident does and 3 fawns. Come October we will start seeing more bucks I am sure. Looking forward to getting out there. Everything is pretty much ready to go. Oh and Corey might have a solid lead on some more dirt for us....stay tuned.
  7. Great buck pics. Just went thru all ours and our best is a 3 pt. Guess I should just not even hunt then. Lol See it's for the challenge, the time in the woods, the stories. It's not for pure meat or antlers. I can buy those anytime. But I can't buy the experience. That's what it's all about. We all of course try for the best buck that's a no brainer. But if it meant my season was worthless cause I didn't get a monster buck I wouldn't do it. And I will say I def respect the hard hunt time you put in on public land it's impressive. But you do it cause it's fun. Cause if it was just about antlers you could shoot one in the pen behind the house from the bathroom window. Lol
  8. Awesome....using stratigury! Lol @Nomad seems like he is planning on using some strategy too!
  9. You and I will never agree on that. We've been thru it. As I've told you before you yourself don't actually get up at 4 am for antlers either. If it was for antlers why not sleep in til noon and buy them online or go out and pick them up in the pen. You go for the experience, the challenge, the accomplishment, the hunt itself, the time in the woods, the enjoyment.... If it was antlers only why don't you just shed hunt. You don't see the forest for the trees. That's okay tell yourself it's the antlers, whatever works for you. I don't hunt for just the meat or the antlers those are just some of the rewards. I hunt cause I like it. You just have a hard time grasping that this is possible. That's ok. If it's all about the antlers there is a high fence operation 10 minutes from my house. Why don't I just go there? Cause it's not what i would enjoy or the reason I'm out there.
  10. See the whole thing is it isn't about antlers it's about accomplishment. I am never going to see a 200" where I hunt but of course I would like to take the biggest buck I can there. If it was all about antlers I would just buy them on eBay. Any buck in the dacks is a big accomplishment to me. And we all have our own personal levels of that. A 10" brookie in a local trout stream is an accomplishment and something I truly enjoy. It doesn't have to be a wall hanger. I could also go on a charter trip and get a 30 lb king. But that brookie would always mean far more to me. A doe in my hunting spot is an accomplishment to be proud of. I don't need to go find a better spot , i like to try to meet that accomplishment where I am. I generally try to hold out for a buck 5 points or better. It's for sure not about the antlers for a five point. Lol it's about doing the best I can with what I have and the challenge that is there. 6 miles away is a place for a high fence hunt where I could go shoot a 170"+. But it's not all about antlers cause that has no appeal to me in the least. For those that enjoy that good for them. But being a hunter of "wild" game for most of my life. That seems ridiculous to me.
  11. If that's not your vehicle I wouldn't touch it. Let the owner decide what is to be done . But it looks like an insurance claim for sure. If you want to handle it out of pocket have them get an estimate then sign off on the amount so they can't come back for more. Def more damage than just buffing it out.
  12. Cant wait to see the buck down!! Sorry to hear about losing the property
  13. Awesome trip ! congrats and thanks for sharing!
  14. if that was motorized and wired to the cab, and pointed the opposite direction, it would sure help to back off tailgaters!
  15. Opening morning I plan to be on the water for some eyes. The afternoon i will be out with the bow though, in one of my close spots. Either in a groundblind or a tree stand close to where we park. Not hunting hard early this year just gonna be on the fringes early for a doe, then get serious later October! pulling cams this weekend and see what the intel says!
  16. i use ground pork for the sausage and mix it 60/40 Venison/pork and then for burgers use 3lb of ground bacon ends and pieces to 10lb of ground venison. and i was concerned by the Title of this thread that it was poll and i was gonna have to answer "yes" ....
  17. Awesome. Nothing more beautiful than a fall Brook trout in all those colors. Looks like a great day. I always found myself saying ...one more spot , one more spot...
  18. thats not the hole! But sure looks promising! Nice buck. Hope you down that one.
  19. I bet we both shared some of the same water at times then. Thats awesome. That river is so beatiful , i miss going there. Im sure youve been here then! Gleasmans.
  20. looking like some action there! your killing me i want to check my cams. Going in this weekend for a quick card pull on the wheeler. Cant wait.
  21. one of the best hunts i had all year was up there last season on a still hunt. Passed a 3 point but i really enjoyed it. I dont go often as my regular hunting spot is 6 minutes from the house in southern and has a lot more deer. But i def enjoy it as well. Good luck up there this season!
