Thanks I will try the dry brine for sure. My brother went to school with Danny Miller in lowville. We used to stop there and get steaks for camp all the time. Nice place. I will be up there at least one day this season for a still hunt for the day.

Miller's is def great! I might take a deer there this year even though it's an hour away. Did the independence come back? 35 years ago it was great and then for quite a while couldn't hardly buy brookie out of there. Used to fish the Sperryville area and once I got 2 - 14" brookies out of the same hole. Beautiful stream. Spent a lot of time on Otter, Crystal and Sunday creeks too. My Dad had a camp on Chase lake.

If you have enough room for indoor storage for 30 stands. Lol I dont take them down cause I just have to store them outside which water gets in the rungs then and pops them. So I leave them up but I do replace the stands themselves as we need to and always replace the straps every year.

That stuff is awesome. Turkey feathers and Lawdwaz both had me try it from Constanzas. Great stuff

Chased red squirrels with a BB gun when i was 8 up at camp. My mom tells my Dad when i was 12 that she was thinking about getting me a BB gun for xmas. LOL So my dad wrapped up my current hidden BB gun at camp for Xmas and then actually gave me a new .22 at camp. Hunted from an early age and got away from it and did a lot more fishing and working in my younger days. Hunting only on occasion. Got back into it a lot about 12 years ago.

Feel like I am ready for season. Shooting has been good. A couple of more times in the next week but bow feels dialed.

if your standing in the same spot when shooting these you need a paper tune badly! lol other wise from 50 pretty damn solid!

Corey gets ONE shot every year. No matter how much he hunts it seems like he gets ONE chance at a deer, its crazy. He has made it count a few times and a few times not esp with the gun. But i think he has gotten that monkey off his back. i think since he missed a huge buck on opening day one year 4 times, yes 4 time and i named it the "par five buck" he has gotten better. lol - it was tough love.

i need to get this off my chest..... My buddy Corey hasnt even shot his bow yet. it weighs on me....lol He is actually juiced for the season and has been doing work on stands etc but just hasnt had any bowtime. I am sure he will get out this weekend a bunch. I am sure because i will stand outside his house and yell til he does!

Venison burgers. My venison stock is actually holding out pretty well. A good last year and even giving a full deer to the GFs family and some to landowners and family, still have a decent stock in the freezer.

Pulled 1/2 the garden today. Still getting some. Gonna leave the carrots and green onions. Venison stew for opening weekend so will need some carrots then.

I had one in my hands a couple of years ago and it was a good deal. Loved how it fit and how light it was but I didn't like the safety on it. So I ended up with a Ruger American 30/06. But they are def a good gun. It will do the job if you do yours it will take down anything. I shoot 165 grain Fusions. Dropped a doe in it's tracks at 200 last year. When I hunt the dacks I carry a Winchester 30/30 with a 4x scope. It's short, light and also for sentimental reasons.

I stayed off the lake this weekend. Sat morn it was raining but this was also going on. Chicken wing run. Got caught in it one year and it scared the crap out of us. Lol

I had the same problem with the 20g Savage. I tried the federal sabots cause it was all I could find and they actually shot the best of all of them out of my gun. And I could usually find them.

They were out behind the house on the lake this morn when I was walking the dog. Heard 10-12 shots.

My GF hits me Everytime I say "can't wait for a good frost!".
