Hunted in Pennsylvania for 4 days, Monday-Thursday (Clearfield County, Units 2G). Horrible week for deer sightings for us. 2 years ago I went alone and saw 36 deer (8 Bucks) in 4 1/2 days. This year I saw 3 deer (2 doe and 1 I couldn't tell, too dark). My Dad saw 1 spike and a bobcat. Monday and Tuesday seemed like decent weather. Wednesday and Thursday got warmer (almost 70 degrees) and rain and wind. Friday we didn't even hunt, 25-35mph winds and an inch of rain. The food plots produced nothing. I think it was because of all the acorns there this year. 2 years ago there wasn't many. This year acorns were everywhere. We hunted areas with tons of deer sign (scrapes, buck rubs, etc.) but still didn't see much. One guy in the camp shot a non-typical 8 pointer with a 19" inside spread (see pic). A few other guys passed on some 6 pointers. My Dad and I did see 5 really nice bucks when driving the backroads of the state forest. We saw 1 10pt, 3 8pt, and 1 6pt. Too bad we saw none in the woods. Few pics of where we hunted included and 1 pic of some turkeys.
Oh well, now looking forward to hunting CT next weekend, then NY gun season.
