  1. +1. Never used a scent/attractant, never will. Nothing more real than au naturale.
  2. Never carried my handgun while shotgun hunting for deer. Honestly, never even given a thought.
  3. Unless you are hunting heavy pines, like me. All you would see is the tops of the pine trees and maybe catch a glimpse of my blaze orange dragging a buck out lol.
  4. Opening day I'll be in my spot about 1hour before sunrise. After opening day, I usually go with 45 minutes before sunrise.
  5. I disagree. I've never been impressed with their work, but that's my opinion. By the way, I heard that Jonas Brothers (located in Mt. Vernon) was a great taxidermist back in the day. However, the new owners bought the name, "Jonas Brothers", so the name means nothing now.
  6. Never used a ground blind in my life. I sit on the ground against a tree or rock wall. Why limit yourself to shot opportunities by being constricted to a tree?
  7. why would you want to hunt from a treestand with a gun?
  8. Wild Cats & Dogs can be a real nuisance, especially out west. Might be a bigger problem someday in our area, who knows? When I was in Wyoming the outfitter told all hunters to shoot feral cats as they were destroying the bird populations in the area. When I was in Arizona wild dogs were an issue attacking cattle. I saw one cow with its ear hanging almost down to the ground from wild dogs.
  9. Why do so many of you gun hunters limit yourselves by using tree stands? What if you need to move 10-20 yards to get a good shot?
  10. I hear ya and agree. I would think that I would lean towards that approach too if I was in the right area like yourself.
  11. Congrats! Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Nobody with atvs by me. No gun hunters in trees either. I've only seen and heard of guys on the ground. With all the heavy pines, sitting in a tree would be a disadvantage. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Must be nice to pass on 8's knowing bigger ones are around. I'm jealous. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  14. he got all dressed up for the snow pic the day after? LOLSent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  15. I love watching the flashlights in the distance at 7-730am when its already light. It's a hunting club and they always seem to come in late and definitely push deer towards me Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. That's like 40 bucks and 80 does depending on how old he is. I got bored of shooting does after the 2nd one. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Nice buck, but horrible pic. I can't stand the back of the truck or hanging garage pictures.
  18. Mostly Sunny, 52/39 with 4mph winds where I will be hunting in 3N. Could be worse, could be better. I plan to hunt Saturday, Sunday, Saturday, Sunday, Thanksgiving morning, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Saturday, Sunday. So 9 1/2 days of the gun season or until I shoot a buck. My Dad will be hunting every single day (dark-dark), so the odds are in his favor for getting the bigger buck. Hoping to get lucky opening day. About 1/2 my bucks have been taken on opening day.
  19. Monster!!! Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Thanks all. Hoping that big guy chases a doe by me on Saturday. Hard to tell if he's a 7 or 8. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  21. Pulled all my cams out of the woods today in preparation for opening day of the gun season next Saturday. Have at least 4 different bucks this year. Tons of daytime pics, but I posted the pics with the best views of the antlers. Tons of does too. One of them is a nice 7 or 8 pointer. Biggest buck I ever got on a cam since I started using them last year. Pretty pumped. Also got a ton of pictures of red fox. Lastly, got my first ever pic of an owl, pretty cool. Well I will definitely hold out early in the gun season for this bigger buck or something similar that might come through.
