  1. I like the neck and the wide rack on the 10/16. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  2. Saw nothing again this evening. Pushed a couple on my way back to the car, but no positive ID. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  3. U'm in for the PM watch. Lots of tracks in the hiking trail on my walk in. Think they may have been through here already, but maybe something will wander through. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  4. @Nytracker I have 78 Winchester and 40 Hornady once fired brass. I don't reload. If you want them, they are yours. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  5. Also, you can freeze water in plastic containers, such as water or milk jugs and use those instead of bagged ice. That reduces the amount of water that gets introduced into the cavity from melting ice. You can also double bag the ice in clean trash bags. Anything to reduce water in the cavity, but keep temps low is a good thing in my opinion. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  6. Gut deer as soon as you recover it. I have put ice in the cavity and between the legs if I cannot process quickly or have a long ride home. I have also quartered and removed back straps and tenderloins, etc, put the meat and quarters in a game bag and placed the game bag on top of ice in a cooler. In FL and GA, we've wet aged venison in coolers with ice in the bottom, draining the water periodically as the ice melts. If you have a spare fridge that you can dry age the meat and quarters in that's preferable, but I don't. While not ideal, the above has worked for me and lots of others who hunt hot climates. 7. I enjoy reading your posts and following along as you describe the pups doing what they were bred and trained to do. Hope Luna gets to chew on a deer leg soon. She's put on some miles in the last 2 tracks....you too. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  8. Good pep talk coach Crappie! Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  9. Did you try deer search? 845-227-5099 Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  10. I've done gutless twice in NY, both does. Took most of the meat. Full disclosure, I did not pick the neck clean and figured the foxes got a little treat. I put the tag with the meat, but did not even think about proof of gender for a doe. Both were young does and were tasty and of normal tenderness. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  11. Trying from the ground this PM. Tucked in a deadfall. Don't see any potential widow makers nearby, so at least I have that going for me. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  12. Spike just did the same thing. Caught my scent at 40 and did a u turn. Wrong wind direction for the route the deer took today. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  13. Just had a nice clean 8 pt come in behind me. Probably caught my scent or movement. He stood there for a few minutes, before he ran off and stood at 60-70 yds. He the ran off. Dang! Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  14. Sorry to hear that Cory. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  15. Got in early for the PM watch. Bumped a doe neat the truck and another while picking what tree to climb. Found 2 small rubs and a tree 18 yards from one. Hope I get to see who made the rub. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  16. Good luck all who are hunting this AM. I plan to take the PM watch. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  17. I would echo what others have said. You aren't going to see deer some days, and there will be a string of days where you see nothing. That's normal in my experience, but it can be frustrating, no doubt. Hunting public is not a gimme, by any means. Keep the faith. Those are good spots, but you can try others. Things change in November with the pheasant hunters and as the rut peaks. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  18. Congrats! Nice buck. Look forward to the post. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  19. Silent...just the photo. Come on man! Spill the beans. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  20. Update. 10/28 -10/30 trail camera behind the house shows young bucks working the rubs early AM (just before legal) PM (during legal) and middle of the day. Haven't captured pics of the big bucks since the velvet came off. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  21. Small forkie came by as I was packing my stand at the base of the tree. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  22. Just had a big doe (by my standards) and fawn come by at a trot, stop at 25-30 yards, stop and make a u turn. I guess she caught just enough of my scent. They were both very light colored compared to what I've been seeing. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  23. Anytime you want company hit me up. I'm close by. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  24. Wish I had chosen different boots. These squeak at the slightest drag on the slightly wet tree stand. Have to remember to lift my feet and not shuffle if I need to change footing. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
