  1. I have a spike tending a fawn. Too funny! Now he's thrashing a sapling. Frisky little fella. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  2. Had this little guy come in to a golden estrus scent drag here in 1c. It was fun to watch. Unfortunately found a dead buck with antlers removed and bumped a deer on my way in. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  3. You can get a replacement if you feel you need a "duplicate". As i understand it the back tag should be on you and visible while hunting. That said, when i am carrying a treestand on my back it would be tough to see the tag. No one including conservation officers have ever bothered me. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  4. Not live from the stand, but 7 ours on stand today. Saw 1 doe as I was at the parking spot getting my climber out around 9 am. Then a doe and 2 fawns at 12:30. Wind was fickle, but what a beautiful day to be in the woods. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  5. Well at least i saw a deer. Probably the same fawn i saw on Sunday. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  6. Been out on County land in 1c since 11:30. 62 deg. Sunny and west wind at 10-15. Beautiful day to be in the woods. Just need deer to show up. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  7. I got a survey from DEC in the mail. It seems DEC is considering a spring turkey season in Suffolk. Looks like there are sufficient birds to support a spring hunt, but DEC is trying to manage competing interests in accessing public lands in spring. Not sure if this is old news, but it was new to me. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  8. That kid can shoot! Enjoyed the video! Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  9. Not my intention to pile on. But if you want to stop poaching you need to report. The old saying that all that is required for the triumph of evil.... Well substitute "poaching" for "evil"..... you get my drift. As for the doe/buck, it looks like a cryptochid, where only one testicle descended. Good one to cull. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  10. Wind keeps changing direction on me here in 1c. Was westerly when i walked in, shifted to NE a while ago and now is SE. Going to stick it out, but expect to get busted if deer come through. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  11. A fawn came in right under my stand. Bumped 3 deer on my walk in on the crunchy leaves. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  12. Just had 3 does run by. Was hoping there was a buck chasing them. Two ATVs. Got my blood pumping though. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  13. 1c, set up about 12' up a tree and that's about as high as I dare in this wind. Saw a fawn on my walk in and stalked to within 20 yards of it just for fun. Sneaked back out and when i was maybe 40 yards away, it saw me, but did not run away. Other than that just had a woman on horseback ride past. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  14. Got th spot i wanted, climbed the tree i selected a month ago and saw nothing. That' hunting. Sometimes the deer don't cooperate. Be back at it on the weekend maybe even tomorrow afternoon. Its a new month of hunting ahead, so not bummed. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  15. A tree just fell about 100 yds away. That got my attention! Will be skirting around a different dead tree leaning over the trail on my way out. It is wndy, but nothing crazy. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  16. There a lots of spots, so i just move on down to another spot. Had low impact scouted this spot prior to opening day and saw several deer, versus other spots. This was plan "a" and the others "b", "c", etc. Based on no sightings so far, this spot may move down the pecking order. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  17. 1c, public land, last sit for October. Have had good luck at least seeing deer on haloween. Wanted to get to the woods earlier, but got delayed by work. Lucky to get this spot...tried probably 6 times to get here first but this supposed 1 car spot always taken by 2-3 hunters each time. That must mean its a good spot, right? 18. I have a single pin thophy ridge sighted for 25 yds. Hold a bit low for 20, and a bit high for 30. Try to limit shots to 30 yds. My days of pulling 70 pounds are behund me, need to get close. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  19. Yesterday, 1c, saw 2.5 yr old buck following doe. Buck made scrape and showed interest in grunt call, but not enough to come in to challenge. I would not call that chasing, but certainly buck was more interested in the doe than in cheching out what/who grunted. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  20. I like California hill state forest in Putnam, from a scenery perpective, but haven't seen enough deer to warrant the 100 mile trek from LI. So I hunt state and county land in 1c and lots of time i am listening to the highway or neighbors or what have you....but the spots are closeby and see deer 50 % of the days. 21. I plan or planned to take next week off to hunt. Weather looks sucky to put it mildly. Fortunately, I have a very flexible vacation schedule, so i can change plans, but don't expect that deer care about the rain. They will do what deer do. I just may not be in the woods to see it. Hoping the weather forecast improves. Whining over. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  22. A good sized doe (for 1c) at 50 yds, followed by 2 does and 2 fawns at 25 yds. Wind shifted and they buggered. Oh well. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  23. Small doe followed by a small 7 or 8 point. Grunted, but could not pull in. Wasn't going to shoot him, just wanted to see him up close. Oh well. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  24. Congrats! Worth the stress and anxiety. Happy for you! Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
