  1. Seeing single hens in the pm. which, I assume are or getting close to nesting. No males viewed, but if the hens are nesting, I know there out there.
  2. Try planting pumpkins for a few years and see how it goes. Maybe even try some butternut squash. They do require N to do well. I dig hills about 10 feet apart, digging down 5", spread some fert., add soil over, then 4 seeds on each corner, one in the middle for the crow. Cover. Hoeing around the plants help, and I'll even hill them, once the plants get some size. The nice part about pumpkins, the whole field need not be worked. An area, size of a trash can is all they need.
  3. Next Thursday. Who's taking opener off from work?
  4. Are you talking about the wild game dinner, a few months ago?
  5. I see this with deer remains along side the country roads, after opening day of firearm deer season. What in Gods earth is wrong with some people?
  6. Not all shows. Drury Longbeard Madness contractors will get them into more of a alert mode before they take the shot. I do agree on other posters, as it depends on the situation, the bird, and the time in the season.
  7. Went last year. Um, free smelt samples. My grandson likes " King Smelt."
  8. The Brickyard, Lewiston. Excellent!
  9. Center Street Smokehouse, Batavia. Great southern food! Super service.
  10. Guess the Ship is starting to take on water. Know the service was a flush, but how was the food? Went there couple of years ago, didn't think the food was all that great ither. Scooped out of a pail dinners.
  11. I would think every instructor would want to have each student, at least shoot a firearm. Of coarse, maybe these days, some of the instructors are afraid of liability. I honestly can't say, I would want to trust every student with a firearm.
  12. Took my first back in the early 70's. About the only thing I remember was the $its load of guns the instructors brought. Maybe retired military. All the kids were afraid to even touch'em, let alone fire'em, LOL. Know one, that I remember, ever got a chance to fire one, once the fire company left.
  13. I just though April 15th was " Spread The Wealth Around Day."
  14. I've recovered 8 sheds off 30 acres. Two were pairs. Not one shed was in open fields. Active winter used deer trails and bedding areas are where some laid. Some of the nastiest going, yielded some of the best trophies. Many laid in water of ditch banks. Some completely covered, gleaming in the sunshine, where the right angle had to be used, to see. Where deer had to jump a fence or down trees are other good areas. Walked by one many times before natures white yielded it to me. This was my experience, your mileage will vary, LOL. Another thing; I would get a feeling, a shed laid up ahead, don't ask me why.
  15. Darn nice find wooly! Keep on looking. Those right sides are out their somewhere. Good luck and may the shed force lead you in their direction.
  16. My shedding desires got the best of me today. Pushed into an area, just melted off from winter's harsh fury. A thick mangled mess of brier that I have put off because I knew what price I would have to pay . I push through. My hands scratched, poked, and pricked with berry bush thorns. My forehead scratched and bleeding. Eye poked and my nose is swelled. Yes friends, I left this area till last, walking by it several times. Today, it called to me, and I broke down, loosing my will to resist, LOL. My effort was fullfilled. This is the right side to a left already found last week. Maybe 60 yard away. Laid fully under water. No chew. Mark this the second set for me. This one had unusual amount of skull bone attached.
  17. Looks good. I could only hope for a nice pattern like yours, on my 20.
  18. Have had ample chances at jakes in past years, filmed instead. Much about my turkey hunting has to do with a good challenge on a nice older tom. I like a good hard, earned hunt, one that I can tell the grand kids later down the road. I want a nice big tom, that I can mount. The deer are getting lonely, LOL.
  19. Pulled the taps on Wednesday. Good season with a few quarts missing in the pic,LOL. Next year we upgrade.
  20. Had a few hours to kill this morning.Started getting a feeling a shed was close by. Sure enough, this little guy laid straight ahead, not 20 minutes into my hunt. Darn deer sure are tame this time of year, LOL. Guess maybe next year, I'll start a journal.
