No longer moving far from....

Think the coloring could be the result from the end of the branches their eating? You're deer in the pics , u posted look a lot better than some others, I have seen. They must be getting some nutrition, from other sources. -
Red Clover

Actually, it's a little late in April. I have one field that is creek flats, and I have to make sure the seed is firmly in soil before the floods, or it will float away. I cyclone seed that in February on bare ground. I generally like to get mine on when the Red Wing Black birds arrive on other soils. Just something I do, that has been handed down from each generation. If we get the usual April rains, u can gamble with spreading it, might work out. I really have never tried it, and with clover at $2.80/ lb., I won't, LOL. -
It got to be "The Voice."

Red Clover

This seeding is just a year old. I frost seeded 40 lb. of red 2 weeks ago. Just put my grass seed on this morning. Have done this for 40 years. -
Nice pics, TFP..

Early growth. Almost like it grows under the snow. Deer and turkey are on it now. It also will grow in some of my poorer drain soils. Took these pics this morning. Edit, Have some areas greener than these, but not able to download.

Your blinds caught my attention last year. Do u get any flex with the 2x2 corners? Edit; Are rain drops noisy on the tarps? -
Guess that flushes my idea, LOL.

Actually, the below average temperature sounds bad, but temp averages creep up very quickly this time of year. Our average high is 43 degrees today. ( I'll be happy with some 40 right now.) By April 1st, it's 50 degree. We'll have "spike" temps. through the period too. Few weeks ago, it was 64 degree on a Monday-Tuesday. We can get a warm rain to green the grasses and legumes before turning cooler again. I believe, the next few weeks will be the hardest on the deer. I'm more concerned with the moisture content in the soils. It's looking dryer than usual right now in this area. Last year, we were fighting a dry growing season and those army worms, made for a shortage of hay. Not bad if you're a seller, but bad for the buyer. -
Had deer come close, but figured that was due to human sent. I got video of turkeys chasing deer right out of the field.

I'll move the decoy slightly when I get action from a wanted party. Most of the time, it will draw attention early in the season, but the birds get smart real fast. The kite sting can break quite easily, that's the intent for it's use. I like the arrows because their long enough to go into the ground, and also work well in hollows where visibility is an issue. If u leave the fletching on, that will add friction to the decay also.

It can in a higher wind situration, but I just tie the tails with a piece of kite string and stake the other end to the ground with a stick. Had one episode where a jake got tangled in the string and dragged the whole works off into the brush. It was quite comical and he did get loose, but he didn't like that hen anymore, LOL. I also control movement with another piece of string to the blind, sometimes.

They look in good shape. Bet their getting sick of winter too. They have been on the year old red clover seeding here. Got it nipped right to the ground. Can't wait for a warm rain. -
Got the Cherokee 3 hens and a jake. Use old arrows to support. Watched one, last year deflate in a few hours, darn berry bushes.
-
No worse than skunk. I'd like to put Punxsutawney Phil in the stew pot for his early Spring prediction, LOL.
-
Last year, we got some nice hatches. The turkey needed it. This year may be more normal?
-
Not a pet, but I was going to try some taxidermy work on some chickens. Thought it would be great practice when I get a nice turkey.

How old would you guess.....

The staining of the tarsal could be the result of January- February late breeding. -

Doc, You're Peach tree description sounds similar to what is on my trees: My Redhaven tree doesn't have it- yet. Been treating infected trees for 2 years now with slow improvement. Peach Leaf Curl Management Guidelines--UC IPM.htm -
