  1. Take your bow to a proshop and have them adjust the tune, then you'll know for sure if it's the broadheads. Only adjusting the rest is like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound.
  2. When I finally get myself something fancier than the preconstructed bear I've been using I plan on going and shooting everything they have at a proshop then deciding.
  3. Hes definitely over gripping his bow aswell.
  4. I've only used muzzys, dad swore by using the proven accurate option and its given me a 100% sucess rate so far. Shot placement and selection are key no fancy blade will make up for that.
  5. I ended up ordering one, hopefully I'll be able to write a decent review after this season.
  6. https://youtu.be/gVvWoOwX-bc Here's a video talking about them for those who don't know what I'm talking about.
  7. Who has experience with them? I'm thinking about buying either a tethrd or Aero for this season but was curious if anyone on here has tried them and if they had advice on one or the other model and if a platform is the best idea and what one to get. I only have the option to hunt public and pressured land and tend to like to move stands alot and hiking a normal setup 2-3 miles back or into a thick area is a pain. I have a climber but have had so many sketchy moments with it I barely feel safe in it anymore.
  8. I dont think enough blame gets put on the lazy parents. It's easier to let your kid play video games or on their phones 8 hours a day than go play sports with them or walk through the woods teaching them woodsman skills.
  9. I'll drag 98% of the time because I want to get the weight and to show off to friends and family. Only time I'd pack it out is if I have to be back at work the next morning and it's my only option. I keep my out west meat pack in the truck just in case I need to do this.
  10. Got OnX half off through the fallen outdoors (veterans group) I wish there was a way to look at different seasons or atleast see when the imaging was taken.
  11. Shot my first deer with a 243, My dad killed a bunch of deer back in Vermont with a 223 growing up. Shot selection is the important part.
  12. I plan on hunting the big woods and trying my hand at tracking this season. Due to being deployed last fall and this spring I missed my prime scouting time to locate pockets that hold bucks. What do you guys look for when researching potential areas on Google maps? Does anyone know of a site that let's me change the time of the satellite images to fall / winter for a better ideal of the types of trees in the area?
  13. Does anyone hunt 6G? I have a dmap that probably wont get used before I deploy.
  14. Yeah ive been avoiding it mainly because of the challenge of recovering a deer when the blood trail washes away.4
  15. Got her Sept 30th. Had to let 3 bucks walk by at less than 30 yards this season until i finally got this mature doe to make a mistake (post requires to take a antlerless before shooting a buck).
  16. Normally i process my own deer but with the potential warmer weather of bow season and not the best set up at my apartment I'm looking for recommendations around fort drum or carthage area.
  17. Just moved to ny (fort drum) late this summer and with getting ready for a deployment i have only about 4 days of scouting in so far. I have not even found a single spot i have confidence in yet. Might just be a lot of sitting ground level in a ghost blind and seeing where they come out and moving the next day.
  18. Always gave mine a test tug prior to going up in the tree, but maybe i should inspect more closely.
  19. Sadly I have not. Just moved to fort drum and have been so busy getting ready for deployment have only scouted twice and neither gave me confidence in those areas. Few weeks left until it's time to hail Mary a spot and hope to get lucky.
  20. I honestly avoid 223 not because it wont kill deer but because it damages more meat than my 270 or 30-06. I hunt with a cheap charter arms field kill 30-06 that's amazingly light. I use it over my other more expensive 06's due to its lighter weight. Also if you have the money for it my buddy shoots a kimber mountain accent that's extremely light i think less than 5 lbs before the optic.
  21. I've had luck around 10 - 2 hunting anything because other hunters start moving and kick the deer to me.
  22. Just got my orders taking me to drum next summer and couldn't be happier to get back to east coast white tail hunting. Anyone here hunt on base? (I avoided like the plague here in WA because they made it to annoying to be worth it) I'm assuming ill be hunting Jadwin or Bear town state forests from the looks of the maps.
