  1. Sorry but i like either leaseing land or just hunt public. One problem I have lease lands are far away from me so lately I have just been hunting public I have friends and family that have private land I can hunt if I want but then I owe them a favor . And there land is far away anyway My idea was geared to maybe try and open up some more land in my area. Maybe that is not possible
  2. Don't think I did unless I wrote it wrong . In any case that is not what I ment . But if you took a poll most people will say hunting public is always more difficult then hunting private. You seemed to give the impression that is not the case . Or did I read that wrong?
  3. I was not talking about you or anyone on here shzz Dont make it personal
  4. Ok your right, so I did a little research and I am right . if you go look at all the news reports of people getting in trouble for baiting it is people hunting on the own land , for the most part . Like this guy http://www.gameandfishmag.com/news/poaching-news-backyard-bucks-hunting-over-bait-headless-deer/ And this guy http://www.recordonline.com/article/20071025/News/710250341 And this guy http://www.recordonline.com/article/20081115/NEWS/811150326
  5. If you are not doing it you have no reason to be insulted by what I said . I am sure it is a small % most get results on private land with out baiting
  6. That does not make much sense if you wanted to work for it you would not buy land just to hunt because that makes it easier then hunting state land . Or any land at random .
  7. No not all people bait that hunt on there own land, don't know how many do .but I can take a educated guess and say that if you're just buying land to hunt on and it is not that large and you still not getting results those people more then likely will start to bait out of fustration probably.
  8. How about we here from people that dont buy land to hunt on now ?
  9. Good for you . What about the many land owners that dont give a f about hunting one way or the other and just have land parked as a investment in many cases or inherited. That would like a tax break from the idea
  10. So why not open up even more of it to hunting if possible . Does not have to be your land it's voluntary
  11. Just to let you know some scumbag acually sued me anyway that was trespassing on my property you have property you can be sued does not even matter if that person was allowed there they can sue you anyway . But if the state sponsors it it is the state who will get sued
  12. Or there hiding illegal activities like baiting deer on that land
  13. Lawsuits are a part of life these days Thats what Insurance is for . And if you have 100s 1000s of acres chances are people are hunting on it trespassing on it anyway seems like not a day goes buy when someone mentions it on this site . Besides what I'm proposing would be totally voluntary if you feel it is not for you you don't have to .
  14. Well I don't know about all of that but those hunting shows that a lot a are probably shot in high fence places do give new hunters the impression that those big bucks are more common then they are . And years ago people did hunt more for food then they do now I think .
  15. That is why anything like that would be totally voluntary . They other thing I know some states do is a lottery system to hunt on better land but I don't no about that people want to hunt not Gamble
  16. Yea sadly no matter what , you will have to pay a little more for better access even under this plan . I can't see anyway around it but I think it would still provide better access to a lot more hunters then there is now .
  17. I understand your concerns You could run a extra back ground check on people who participate in that program and maybe even have them take another mandatory course on land management and hunter safety course to detour most goof offs from getting into said program
  18. Be nice but not everyone has close friends or family that can hunt with them or do hunt for that matter.
  19. State state-sponsored program state insurance will have to be made to cover it obviously part of the fee they would charge to be part of that program.
  20. Well I pay like what 50 or 60 right now for a hunting license to hunt state land that has like I can guarantee you more than 4 people hunting on it per 100 acres more like 100 it seems like at times lol yea I would pay more for better access to better hunting that is closer to home . Just the money I would save on gas and time would be worth it .
  21. A Any plan obviously Would have be done in a way that nobody's tax would go up . You could do that possibly by charging a fee for hunters that participate in that program
  22. Also the deer density is higher in the caskills.
  23. If you have 100s or thousands of unfence land chances are somebody is hunting there anyway without you knowing it . May as well let the state pay you instead of the other way around in my opinion. Seems like every other day people talk about trespassers on here if you look . So it's happening all the time anyway
  24. My idea would be totally voluntary. So if someone does it one year and don't like how it works out they don't have obligations to keep doing it. You be surprised how many land owners who got lots of land and don't live on it . would say yea especially if the state pays them or they don't pay nothing on property tax for that year . Some obviously won't want to do it so fine ,you don't have to would be nothing forced on anyone . And a extra fee for hunting that land could be charged to hunters who participate in that program so nobody else's tax would go up .
