If they want to limit something do it by fps or foot pounds of energy rating makes more sense. Because recurves and compounds don't shoot the same speeds with the same draw weight . It leaves recurves at a disadvantage . even though they're more reliable. It is a bs rule

People say they don't see many bucks well go get or look at guys game cams because they don't seem to have any touble finding them .

When I'm sure they are going to keep the crossbow season and if they change the regulations of draw weight I'm getting this MICRO 335 btw Excalibur crossbows come with a lifetime warranty

I only phrase it that way because they don't hold there value like firearms do . But yes recurve is my preferred way to go because you don't need a archery place to change the string or have cam parts that can come loose to worry about I had a compond Barnett crossbow years ago that fell apart on me years ago since then you couldn't pay me to buy a compoud crossbow again . So I guess I dont make a good salesman for them huh

Excalibur recurve way to go if you want something that dont break apart on you like the matrix . As for taking a 40 yard shot and having a %100 guarantee that nothing is going to go wrong with a bad shot nothing in hunting is 100% guaranteed and especially bow hunting A deer can move by the time you arrow gets to it or a little branch can throw off your shot . That is why most archery instructors recommend not taking shots past 30 yards .

Maybe they could get Chris Christie to bungee cord off it and see how strong it is

Well if your determined spend some cash Get one of the Excalibur recurve model's if your going to blow $1000 Anything with cams will be a headache for you in the long run when the string goes .

Btw the expensive ones weight a ton that one's actually light and maneuverable But it is your money do what you like once you buy one btw your stuck with it you go buy a $1000 crossbow It is not a gun they don't hold there value remember . The deer does not care if you killed it with $150 or $1000 crossbow

You don't need to spend a whole lot of money on a crossbow that is a $150 It will kill just as good as any

Yea I got one as a gift to, have not open the box yet something that listens to you always on seems kind of weird. But then again all smartphones we use are doing that anyway I guess .

Yea but really if someone really wants a challenging hunt wouldn't they just go to a place like the adks or Catskills to do it big woods hunting . That's what is great about this state there are many flavors of hunting you can do here . The only problem is some times you dont have the time To go to those places .

I know one guy who after shooting a nice buck never went hunting again i ask him why he never goes anymore he said I got sick of freezing my ass off seeing nothing but doe and I have no time anymore . He said I got my buck already anyway. He mounted it and that Was it don't know how common that is . But it happens

1990 17,990,455 2.5% 2000 18,976,457 5.5% 2010 19,378,102 2.1% Est. 2016 19,745,289 1.9% The population has increased not decreased By over 300,000 from 2010 to 2016 And if you add up all the illegals and undocumented it's even more then that You guys want to belive what you want to believe I guess i guess . 30,000 more statistically nothing to speak off when at the same time the population grew by more than 300,000

and talking to other hunters . I have hunted lot of different places from Chenango County to Westchester County and in between . Years ago there definitely were more people hunting

Lol like others here have said we dont know if it is 1 guy hunting buying 3 or 4 licenses by getting his wife and kids gradba to get them . Or some other scam . Or if there are legitimately being sold by individual Hunters that are hunting This is new York State. Lots of Corruption in gov Who here see more hunters on the road opening day now then 20 or 30 plus years ago if your old enough to remember because I don't see it.

Not sure what number you reading but There not using them as much at least not on public land i see less hunters around . Like others have said either it is that ,or there getting family members to buy licences to give to someone else .

Yep and even with the hunting industry doing its best to promote hunting on tv on the internet I still don't see the younger generation really getting into it like they us to maybe they watch some show and see some guy shoot some giant buck and think wow that is cool . Go buy a license buy a gun ,Then once they get out there a few times and don't get that kind of deer I think most don't go or go very little, There are so many more options for Hobbies for kids to do these days then there us to be that is a big reason , Kids are more into video gaming and the internet and the 600 chnnel tv stations they have now . When's the last time you saw a kids play ball in a park on there own . Unless it was organized by there school . You don't anymore . Don't get me wrong hunting not going away anytime soon it's just now there are more distractions other things that hunting has to compete with that did not exist before.

Yep you don't need to do anything most people after they hunt a few first days get tired of it and don't bother hunting until maybe the last day I noticed . The guys that hunt during the rest of the season lot of times are guys for what ever reason did not hunt the beginning of the season. Plus the deer get harder and harder to hunt as the season goes on . That is another reason why you have diminishing returns. The dumb and young deer already got killed opening weekend. The ones left figure out how to avoid humans all together .

I just want closer hunting land less driving but that is not going to.happen when I have time I go to the caskills and even farther up sometimes sometimes I hunt private land and I have had a lease before to . I know what I am proposing is never going to happen . It's just a idea . Only thing that may happen is the state opening up more parks to hunting getting more land for hunting and Recreation in general.
