THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
Dave replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I know that you are for redistribution of the wealth. But regardless of the BS you recite there is still some tax payers who will pay that tax to fund Obama Care. And didn't I see you in a clown suit wasting tax payers money in Las Vegas? -

You are worng I love facts and can admit when I am wrong. If you read my post I said I THINK there is a 3.8% tax ,implying I wasn't 100% sure. -
THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..

Did you know that under Obama care there is a tax you have to pay when you sell your house to fund Obama care. I think it's 3.8%. My question is what the hell does selling my house have to do with health care? And why should I be taxes to pay for it. -

We have a president who challanges the Supreme Court. We have a president that wants Obama care to be the law of the land > "Try to fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires > every citizen > to prove they are insured, but not everyone must prove they are > a citizen!" > > Whats wrog with this picture? Who's country is this anyway? I wonder if Obama will mandate that everyone that enters the United States have health care? Or will we still give them a free ride? All I can say is, if you are fed up vote. Imagine the next 4 years with Obama, all the illegals will be granted citizenship. You know that's coming next. -
Great series can't wait till next week.

This is just another fenced in hunting area where the boars can excape and then repopulate the area and then we wil have the same problems at other states. This is how we detected the CWD in areas of penned up deer. I think if they are not in a natural state they shouldn't be here, only cause problems if they excape.JMHO

Free of charge, just call up and request them to put your property on their patrol list. They will send you a from to fill out and that's it.

This is just a joke but it sure is a good one. Splinters in Her Crotch! A woman from Los Angeles who was a tree hugger, a far left liberal, and an anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland near Colville, WA. There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted a good view of the natural splendor of her land, so she started to climb the big tree. As she neared the top she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her In her haste to escape, the woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her crotch. In considerable pain, she hurried to a local ER to see a doctor. She told him she was an environmentalist, a far-left liberal, and an anti- hunter activist and also how she came to get all the splinters. The doctor listened to her story with great patience and then told her to go wait in the examining room and he would see if he could help her. She sat and waited three hours before the doctor reappeared. The angry woman demanded, "What took you so long?" He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a recreational area so close to a waste treatment facility. I'm sorry, but due to Obama Care they turned me down."

Here is where our taxes go for Education

Guys another thing that contributes to the decline in tax revenue is that once a state worker retires they pay no state tax. While the rest of us just get a break in the first $20,000 of our retirement . That's one they could fix, but I don't think they will. -

Wooffer you are right. Before I retired my company had stopped contributing to our 401K plan when the market was down. They only matched a small % of your salary. The max you could contribute was 6%. and then the company would match 50% of the 6%. Far cry from a 50-50 match. So that would be a 3% match. You could put in more if you wanted that's up to you. -

I don't know where you got the idea the the private sector matches 401k contributions 50-50. That's not true, lots fo companies have no 401k to offer. Ones that do only match a small precentage .That may come out to about 3% if that. But if you don't participate the company matches nothing. -

For those of you who teach in NYC this is not meant for you. You can't compare NYC teachers and NYPD to the same jobs on Long Island. I do not want th insul the NYC teachers or NYPD. But if you are a LI teacher with tenure and sometime on the job and have to work two jobs you are probably living over your means. So don't look for us to feel sorry for you. I see the problem being you have been granted tenure, have high salaries, benefits for health insurance that most pay nothing for, no copay for doctors or prescriptions. Just an intitlement mentality. Is this what you are teaching our children??????? And our president wants us to pay our fair share for education WTF. -

The difference is that most things on the list we have a choice to pay the price or not. School taxes we have no choice we must pay if you are a homeowner. As far as salaries and benefits go the school systems on Long Island have surpassed the private sector. There are companies who give raises that are not added to your base salary just to keep pension costs down. It's a mix of variable pay and regular yearly increases. So an employee may get a $5000 raise for the year but only $2000 may be added to base salary going toward their pension not the entire $5000. Same with health benefits the company pays a set amount and any increases are paid the employee. Why can't the school districts impliment this type of cost savings for the tax payers? -

You got that right. My taxes were $5600 when I bought my house in 1999 and they are just over $13,800 not counting my homeowners insurance that makes it over $15000. How much tax is enough? I live in a Cape Cod type house not a mansion. Like I have said before my taxes have gone up over $300 a month and there is nothing I can do about it. When the market picks up I will put it up for sale. Not because of crime, bad neighbors, bad neighborhood but School taxes will force us to move eventually. Notice when the teacher next door retires they move and we are lift to pay their pension and benefits. -

You are a pompouse teacher!!!!! My house was appraised at $615,000 about 5 years ago now it's appraised at $450,000 and I pay more taxes now, than when it was appraised at $615,000. Tell me how that works??? Plus the values are just BS any way. -

We have to change things and soon!!!!!!!!!!! There are two threats to your pension: 1) Market risk. The ability of the NYS Teachers" Retirement System to continue paying benefits depends on the management of the funds collected from school boards and members. Obviously, the downturn in the stock maket over the last 18 months has had an impact on the retirement fund. Click here to read the statement issued by the NYS Teachers' Retirement System. 2) Legal risk. Did you notice the part of the retirement board's statement linked above which said: "Despite market volatility, you can rest assured your retirement fund is safe, secure and guaranteed by the New York State Constitution."? It's important to understand that NY is the ONLY state to provide a constitutional guarantee that your pension, once earned, cannot be reduced. That constitutional guarantee may disappear, however, if a constitutional convention is held. A convention could eliminate this protection for our pensions, and there are lots of folks out there who want to do just that! Here's a statement from NYSUT: "Here in New York, the protection of public pensions goes all the way back to 1938, when voters amended the New York State Constitution to guarantee pension benefits. That's why holding a constitutional convention could be so dangerous.... We are the only state in the nation with a constitutional guarantee that one's pension benefits cannot be reduced. If there is a constitutional convention, the constitutional guarantee for all public employees, in-service and retired members, could be removed. If New York legislators truly want to reform certain lawmaking procedures like budget preparation ..., all they have to do is pass individual bills targeting the specific procedures they want to reform." In addition, there is talk of doing away with our traditional "defined-benefit" pension system, and replacing it with a "defined-contribution" system, such as the 401k's that lost so much of their worth during the stock market downturn. According to NYSUT:
