Grows even if you called the farmer how would he retrieve the deer. Sucks to lose one like that during hunting season. I think most hunters would shoot him, probably wouldn't see the tag till they approached the deer to gut him out. Especially if the shot was a long one.

My ex didn't like dead animal decor either. That's why she is the EX.

Makes a lot of sense, have never lost one but had a devil of a time finding it in the leaves.

Store your ATV for the winter
Dave replied to ants's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Get all your oil at an auto barn, or any of those type car stores. Buying from a dealer is much more expensive and the oil is basically the same. Oil filters on line are also much cheaper. -

Guys I have 3 , 220 bayou Kawasaki quads. two bought new in 1996 and one in 2001. I do absolutely nothing to them just close the gas valve. Come spring they usually start right up with no problems, have had the same response since I have had them. Only changed the batteries once in a while. Change the oil and filters in the late spring. -
4Seasons, I have read all your posts and appreciate all you do to keep CWD out of the deer you raise. I just hope the other deer ranchers are as dilegent as you. Would hate to have it happen again.Dave

Joe, if they are so highly regulated than what happened? Once they found where the CWD started, what did they do to the deer farm owner is he still in operation? I hear your logic about other hunters bringing in deer from out of state, but how would that contaminate the deer in the wild?
-
Joe, I am not sure how many farms raise deer in NY but just eliminating them would go a long way in preventing CWD. After all that is where it all started, like cutting off the head of a snake. Sorry if this offends 4 seasons. JMHO

Great Wooly thanks for sharing. Took a Polar Bear dip in the ocean yesterday felt great. Dave

I don't know what has gotten you all pissed off. Do you work at a deer farm that has captive deer? What did you object to, didn't they find CWD in Captive deer? Regardless how it came to be it came from a captive deer farm in NYS. Read the post from Growsalot and go to the DEC web site, I think most of us are well informed about CWD and not a bunch of dip S--t's. If the captive deer farms had all this testing why didn't they find the disease?

Happy New Year to you too.

Happy New Year Buck, and Family

Grows you have to admit that the food plots had something to do with your success 4 deer. Our camp has close to 350 acres to hunt and we totaled 4 deer between 13 guys. No food plots, and you got 4 deer by yourself. Something is bringing those deer to your land, food plots!!!!!!!JMHO

I guess you hunt with a bunch of unethical hunters, did you ever think to call the DEC. Sounds like you know quite a few baiters.
-
I think the point being made is both are used to attract deer so the hunter can shoot them. Both are a form of bait but one is legal and one is not. But you get the same result. Just like the bucket of apples or corn the food plot is only good while it lasts. If you don't replant the food plot every year the deer will go else where. Seems like his point is that both should be illegal whether you agree or not. If you aren't harvesting the food plot for your consumption it should be called what it is baiting just like a bucket of corn. Or maybe both should be legal. Just because it takes time and money to have a food plot doesn't mean it's not bating. Or else why would you bother to invest time and money? JMHO

Just finished remodeling my kitchen, what a lot of work that was the demolition was all plaster walls and ceiling. Spent a small fortune felt like it was like that movie the money pit. Will get into the muzzle loader this year. Have a Hawkins 50 cal Thompson bought it in the 1970's will finally get the fire it this year if can figure out all I need to get started. Would like to put in a food plot this season along with adding a few more apple trees. And my best new hobby will be spending time with my new grandchild.

Wasn't the CWD found in deer that were confined in a fenced in area originally? Deer farms etc. Not form the wild. Have they stopped feeding deer in these deer farms? Have they shut any of them down because of CWD? Or is it still ok to feed deer in a confined area, where this CWD started but not in the wild? We know the answer to that, ban feeding deer in the wild. We should have closed all deer farms that would have solved the problem. Like Doc said the laws don't make a whole lot of sense but it's the law.

Doe, and it's not against the law for Congress and the Senate to buy stocks . That they are regulating, called insider trading any where else. You could go to jail but it's ok for our elected officials. Some laws are just stupid.

There is one thing we all have in common, regardless of how we feel emotionally about taking the life of animals we hunt. Some it bothers, some it doesn't but we all pull the trigger. We are all hunter predators just some have more feelings than others. Not good or bad we are all wired different, but all hunters in the end.
-
This hunting season I had these same emotions. I filled my buck tag on opening day and later in the season I filled my doe tag. But there was this feeling of emotion that I said to myself enough killing for this season. I get this way often and it hits me right in my gut hard to explain it though. But I always end up pulling the trigger. I appreciate the hunting opportunities we have in NYS and once the season is over I can't wait till bow season starts and we get to do it all over again. And in my case that includes that feeling I get in my gut when I kill a Deer. After all how should we feel when we take a life?

Gotta give it a try.

Sounds good to me.

After my cabin was broken into and they stole all our hunting knives. I lost two Buck knives with fixed blades and my favorite case knife I had for over 40 years. Replaced them with K-bar's they reminder me of my old case knife. They were excellent for field dressing, no complaints. Bought one for my brother and my son they really liked the feel of the k-bar.
