  1. Wolly, I agree. I even had the chance a few times during deer season and didn't take the shot. But they are a very wily critter, always moving and hard to get a bead on. They have a bad rap that's makes them a target. Not saying that is right just the way it is.Dave
  2. Antler, a lot of hunters don't hold the same opinion as you, in regard to coyotes. Some feel they are the reason for seeing less deer in their hunting area's. There are many articles and video's produced to show the predation caused by Yotes. Right or wrong they have a bad name in the deer hunting community. So I can see and this is MY opinion why hunters may shoot a coyote any chance they get. You don't have to bother telling me they are out of season and it's against the law , this i know. The coyote has a bad rap and that's not going to change. Hunters may feel they are protecting the deer every time a coyote is shot, especially the fawns. Not to mention the small game, in many areas there are none. Just my opinion, not to start a controversy. Which had happened in the past.Dave
  3. Pakistan has been playing both sides of the fence for a long time now. We are wasting our tax dollars on such a corrupt government. We got Osama now lets get out . Save our money for a more loyal alley who doesn't take our money and laugh at us. Well look who's laughing now, not Osama or his Pakistany buddies. Dave

Doc, do you believe the deer kill totals they put out at the end of the season. Maybe they use the same logic about feeding deer.Dave
  5. I hear ya, tough call? Maybe, maybe not.Dave
  6. I would like to hear what the Muslim community has to say about the demise of Osama? I bet they are not cheering in the streets like they did after 911. Dave
  7. Lets get Donald Trump to have them produce the death certificate.!!!!!!!!! Dave
  8. That sounds strange to me too.Dave

Blur, everyone had an opinion, and ours differ, no problem.Dave
  10. No, this is a time to celebrate as well as heighten our awareness that the danger still exists. Yes we should feel free to celebrate the fact that an assault on our citizenry has at last been avenged and that a message has been sent that we do indeed have a long reach around the globe. And it is also true that we can look for heightened attempts at reprisals. Hopefully we can be just as vigilant and perhaps even more so to continue out-maneuvering these wackos as we have done since 911. Doc, as a veteran and someone who worked at the World Trade Center the day the two planes hit, and for the 3 weeks that followed. I am not celebrating but I am glad he is dead. There is always someone to take his place. Dave
  11. Totally agree, lets get out now!!!!!!!!!Dave

What about the winter kill? In some areas the deer are on the decline and a bad winter kill could be devestating. Would you feed a starving person if he had no food?Dave
  13. Doc, he may be dead but it's not over, not by a long shot. No time to celebrate, must still be on alert.Dave

Guys I hear your arguments for pro and con to the bating issue. But there is another issue feeding not bating. Upstate the month of April and the end of March the deer have been stressed the most from lack of food. And the growth of any vegetation is still not there for them to eat yet. So whats wrong with putting out some food for this time period only, till shoots start to grow and no supplemental food would be necessary. This would be for feeding only and not for hunting because the season will not start till October and the supplemental feeding would end the beginning of May. So feeding from end of March till end of April will help the deer to survive and be healthier for the rest of the season. What are your thoughts?Dave
  15. Sab, should have gotten a map of all his hunting property. That you could have moved on your own. Something wrong when guide can't put his customers on stand, especially in the dark on opening day. Live and learn. Dave
  16. Found the additional comments they were great. Especially the guy who stated that hunters didn't kill all the game on Long Island , suburban sprawl did. How about all the lawn chemicals that kill animals and fish, they think they had nothing to do with that. They just point fingers at the easiest target the hunters, well we harvest and eat the game, we don't leave them to die a slow death from chemicals poison. Dave
  17. Virgil, I don't know what Newsday you are looking at, I have the April 28,2011 article in hand, page A31. Under LETTERS "hunting is wrong sport for teens" There are only two negative letters and no rebuttals to this.Dave
  18. Ed very sorry for your loss, you and your family will be in our prayers. Lost my mother inlaw on Valentines Day. She was just like my own mother and will be truly missed. Dave
  19. Newsday coverage to hunting and fishing is very limited and we all know why. Sorry must have missed the fine print with the positive comments on hunting. But I did see the well placed negative comments, they weren't in the small print. if it weren't for the first youth turkey hunt on long island there would have never been any type of article at all. And yes lets not make this a controversy Newsday isn't worth it.Dave
  20. Geno, the problem is these SOB's vote. I'll bet that will scare you.Dave
  21. Thanks John, couldn't figure out how to upload the article. The guy's and gal's need to read this one sided opinion.Dave
  22. You guys are right, what's wrong with our country always willing to send aid and money to foreign counties but not at home. All we get from our government is the bill. Tax and spending our hard earned money, when will Washington wake up. I think it is already too late. Where is the president's leadership there is none and no one holds his administration accountable. Dave
  23. Definately not fair and balanced. Mostly liberal agenda on everything. Dave
  24. Steve, I agree, funny how they always find money to go to war. Then tell the seniors there is no money for social security. Where did we find the money to attack Libya. Watched fox news and they were saying 45% of workers pay on federal tax. How is that possible that means that 55% of workers are paying the whole nut. It looks like they will raise our taxes to pay for more mismanagement of our country. What pisses me off is Obama saying we most invest more in education, my school tax went up $1600 this year for a total school tax bill of $8500 what a joke , he wants more. I am retired and have no one in school, they think we should pay more. Looking to move to Pa. where they are less taxing than Long Island.Dave
