  1. Doe, I rode from Long Island to Sturgus about 10yrs ago. Great trip lots going on. Many bike vendors and there was an attraction to demonstrate how to pick up a bike even the big ones. They had a fully dresses honda laying on its side and a woman about 120# picked it right up with ease. Just have to know how.Dave
  2. Totally agree Doc. They should spend our money on something that would benefit all sportsman. Not a bunch of hikers and backpackers who invest nothing at all. Dave
  3. Doc, Thanks for the depressing update. Screwed again, just like everything else you pay and get nothing for it. Dave
  4. It does make sense but remember your talking about the DEC. They don't make sense most of the time.Dave
  5. Where would that be?Dave South Central and South West....over where they grow big without the AR... That's true we don't have agriculture to support the deer in our area. Mostly woods, but every once in awhile we get a big one. DMU next to us has AR and they haven't had the results they expected yet.Dave
  6. Deer was Nov 20th Bear was Nov 27th Culver, they opened on the same day last year in the southern zone. Nov 20th. Check the DEC site it will confirm the same dates.Dave Western NY opened on Nov 27th for bear. Catskills opened Nov 20th. same as deer season.Dave
  7. Deer was Nov 20th Bear was Nov 27th Culver, they opened on the same day last year in the southern zone. Nov 20th. Check the DEC site it will confirm the same dates.Dave
  8. G-Man, I believe that deer and bear are open the same time in the southern zone gun season.Dave
  9. Great slide show and great music, that's country.Dave
  10. Doc I think it's Italian for your television.
  11. Geno, bought 6 trees from lows about 4 yrs ago. They are getting bigger but the apple production is slow. Bought a variety so they could cross pollinate but have only produced a few apples each year and some trees have not produced anything yet. Hoping this year will be better. Good luck with your trees. Don't buy flowering pear trees they don't produce fruit just flowers.Dave
  12. Guy's?Gal's what is the best set up when turkey hunting? Set up in the wood line to an open meadow and put out some decoys or set up in the woods and put out some decoys. Which would be more successful? Dave
  13. I agree the last week in October and the first few days in November have been what had worked for me. I was looking for the late rut last year as predicted and it never materialized in my area. Think the moon phase was off last year. Dave
  14. Yep, if it wasnt true, dont you think Bin Laden would take the opportunity to show the world how smart he is and make the US look completely stupid by proclaiming his continued existence? It would be all too easy for him to do. The simple lack of that happening is proof enough. Sorry but sometimes I like to play on the conspirousy theorist's side! If you believe everything our government releases as fact, perhaps there's some finer details that need listening to in many cases that cry cover-up. What you say here may be true......BUT!!!! A few things to ponder as we all say our prayers tonight for UBL's exceptence into hell with open arms! Our government has released a statement, and many other organizations and reports of his own oversee'rs have already began to take credit for UBL's demise..not to mention that he may have just as well killed himself. That's not even remotely my concern who killed him, just the fact that somebody got him is good enough for me, dead or alive. Anyhow, you need to ask yourself, how good is UBL to the U.S. DEAD? Via such a secretive opperation they've been planning for months. Wouldn't you think if this mission were so secretive they would have well thought out damn near every aspect of the public perception to every possible response, from every foreign coountry covered beforehand? THEY DID! That's exactly why the had a clergy on-board that ship to pronounce a propper burrial at sea for the fallen leader. In the next breath they act like they didn't know what was gonna happen untill now to decide if they should release pics or not? ??? C-mon now.... : They are much smarter than all uss with the kill 'em all attitude. Hell... that's how they get away with murder! I ain't complainin'. Got the pics...but not releasing them. Got video of the shroud capsuled body going overboard. Today Pakistan releases photos of the bloody aftermath our local news edited for rating PG-13. Now what have we been told so far is that we had 24 Seals carry out this mission. In the next report, I hear there were 25 women and children inside the compound and possably more. Pay attention here! ??? Day or two before this all came out they were all reporting a few women and kids in the mix that the Seals all took good care to "cover there eye's" from all the mass murder so as not to...well, leave them in a state of depression I assume from what they may have witnessed. OR Was it just to get rid of witnesses as they hauled his ass out the door while dumping a pile of UBM's blood for the locals to discover and just say..., That only leaves 2 Seals left to do the 2 shot shooting....get my dirft or no? Ummm. I think we may have been out numbered. ??? "Yep, he's dead..they musta got 'em"" : Who's to say first of all that he's NOT dead and the government has CAPTURED him for interrogation. We all know the UN would never stand for us "stealing" a war criminal on forbidden land without authorization and torturing the info out of him.., right? There's much more to this than any one of us will ever know, but who cares! Time to have fun with the fact the suckers finally not a leader of the Taliwackers anymore!!!! I give credit where credit is due, but in this case the credit's being spread around like butter on hot toast. Anyone that is farmilar with body language will tell ya O'bamas hiding something from America. We'll never know the truth how it all went down and a pic aint gonna prove chit with todays advances in PhotoShop, lol. We got him one way or another, whether we're being lied to or not, his carcass has been disposed of perfectly fine by me or his body is in United States of Americas hands to put the nipple clamps on to gather more intelligence. If you took the time to read all this crap, I salute you! Must be an American! Wolly, send us some more of those beautiful pictures of the critters those are the ones that make all of us feel good, who care about pictures of a dead camel herder. Dave
  15. Well done, Newsday finally got it right. They published "The Virtues Of Hunting" in response to the over two dozen letters in favor of hunting. Stating at the time they had only two letters that were critical of youth turkey hunting. Now they are posting the positive responses. Dave ;D
  16. Steve, you can't speak from that position until you personally go through such a tragedy. What you feel before isn't what you will feel after such an event. That's all I will say on this subject.Dave
  17. Steve I have to tell you I worked down at Trade Center after the two planes hit and I personally know people who lost family and friend. For you to say the death of Bin Laden really does very little shocks me. How could you presume to know how they feel?Dave
  18. They are not all liberal. Many from religious backgrounds and conservative have had similar sentiments. I guess to some degree they have a point. Eventhough he deserved what he got, we maybe shouldn't stoop to a barbaric level where we cheer like we are still at an arena where people were being thrown and eaten by lions. Then again humanity has evolved very little over the years. Technologically we may have advanced, but in other ways we are no different to when we carried spears and walked barefoot. Most people would still stone to death those who cross them if they could somehow get away with it. In most cases the good feeling that revenge brings pushes aside any straight and reasonable thinking. Steve, I don't agree with you on this one and neither do the families of the 3000 people who lost their lives on 9-11Dave
  19. Congrat's to all you successful turkey hunters. Dave
  20. Well Doc we know where their loyalties lye. Maybe if it was their family and friends who died on 9-11 they might have a different attitude. It didn't personally touch their lives so now they pick apart the results. We waited 10 yrs and that was too long to get justice but we have it now, don't let a bunch of liberals steal our thunder.Dave
  21. Wolly, I was in Callicoon Agway on Satursday and to my great surprise and pleasure a full grown Bald Eagle flew over head. He was about 100' up with a fish in his talons. Just a beautiful site, wish I had a camera. Once in a life time moment of true nature. Made my day hell the whole month. Dave
  22. Antler, a lot of hunters don't hold the same opinion as you, in regard to coyotes. Some feel they are the reason for seeing less deer in their hunting area's. There are many articles and video's produced to show the predation caused by Yotes. Right or wrong they have a bad name in the deer hunting community. So I can see and this is MY opinion why hunters may shoot a coyote any chance they get. You don't have to bother telling me they are out of season and it's against the law , this i know. The coyote has a bad rap and that's not going to change. Hunters may feel they are protecting the deer every time a coyote is shot, especially the fawns. Not to mention the small game, in many areas there are none. Just my opinion, not to start a controversy. Which had happened in the past.Dave You're entitled to your opinion... and I agree coyotes have a bad name... the reason there are videos and articles written about their predation is because they are predators... they have just as much right to exist in nature as the whitetail... not sure why it is ok to have 1,000,000 whitetails in NY, but not 20,000 coyotes... and in my opinion it's wrong to condone illegal hunting of coyotes to satisfy your lust for deer... hunting them legally is a better option. Not like you can't take as many as you like during the regular season.. seems to me you are pretty quick to make up your own rules when it comes satisfying your own hunting interest... that to me is not much of a sportsman... not to stir up controversy.. thats just my opinion. And by the way I will always try to take a coyote during the regular season.. so I'm not against hunting coyotes. Antler you say you don't want to stir up controversy, than you through in a cheap shot. You say I make up my own rules to satisfy my hunting interests and to you I am not much of a sportsman. You sure can jump to conclusions, the wrong ones. What rules have I made up? Tell me. Read what is stated not what you think the other person is thinking. In life you may be able to see why people do things but that doesn't mean you think it's right. So don't be so fast to jump to conclusions. Maybe you should start your own web site "Antler, knows all see's all and always right"Dave
  23. Wolly, thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures. They are truly amazing, makes one stop and appreciate what is right under our noses. Dave
