    WNYTRPR posted a topic in Trapping

    Always trapping beaver for everyone else ,but on the rare occasion I have to go to work right in the yard . This battle scared beaver decided to make a late appearance,and go quickly to work .It got personal quick .And he was gone as fast as he arrived .I thought about leaving him for a split second ,in that time he got me though .

    Sat out the morning Have some falling trees to cut around the yard .Be back out for the afternoon.Seen not a thing on my sit yesterday evening .Had one lone doe on cam in the Orchards at 12:30am.

    I did for 25 years .Then got the rifled barrel and realized how much I’ve been missing out .

    Has opted out of the Holiday hunt due to the Snowmobile clubs being against it .

    About time I’m above avg at something I guess ... And I know I didn’t say bow hunters are wounding all the deer .It was just my opinion that ,bow hunting overall ,wounds more deer than deer drives .Just a simple ,stupid ,irrelevant opinion really .I could be way wrong too .

    Go check Facebook during bow season .Multiple threads a day on “shot deer ,found blood but not deer” I’ll have to say bow wins over drives when it comes to wounded deer.

    Castors look good .maybe a tad more membrane to pull off but they look better than most beginners . Beaver spend a lot of time grooming themselves .They have a back nail ,one on each side that is used to pick and clean in their fur .It looks like a double nail,but cupped

    Oil gland is pretty much righ against the castor .Absolutely no need to wash a beaver hide unless covered in mud.

    Quiet morning.no movement within range of a 3” federal copper.I’m behind on fur so that’s where I’m off to . Evening have been my go to this year ,got the next 4/5 days off de we’ll see what happens.

    Rarely if ever are they open .I know the club near me has lost a lot of ground in the past ,due to their leaders being idiots .

    I’d relax .I was out a few days back from the ground .Got lucky as a dead tree fell 45 yards from me .
