"Grammy's" in Florida W/her friend. "Poppy" is home alone W/nobody to watch..

Way back before paper book matches took over, my Dad made me a log cabin out of wooden stick matches. Not nearly as involved as the toothpick castles, but I treasured that little cabin until something happened to it. Alas by that time my Dad didn't use stick matches anymore.

They come up in "New Content".

Maybe not but he finished right behind Ben Carson & ahead of Rand Paul. Not bad when his name wasn't even on the ballot.

Bernie beat Rand Paul & kicked Rick Santorum's as well as Huckabee's ass in the New Hampshire REPUBLICAN primary.

Here we go!

Here's the Indian version.

And that loud noise will get to the game before the Bolt.

That's why the video suggests using the finger. You will be able to tell if the case head is getting too much heat. There are other methods, dark room, temperature sensitive lacquers, etc. The method in the video just seems to be the simplest to me.

Quenching is used to harden ferrous metals. Tempering is heating the metal to a prescribed temperature to remove a desired amount of hardness/brittleness. Color can be used to determine the amount of hardness removed. A knife would need to have less hardness than a file. The knife needs some ability to flex W/O breaking but must still be hard enough to hold an edge. The quenching of the brass is to remove the heat before it can affect the rest of the case. Only the neck/shoulder needs to be softened as they are the parts that get worked the most when resizing/firing. Quenching has nothing to do with the actual annealing of the neck/shoulder.

He addresses that method in the video.

Brass work hardens after being formed & reformed. After several loadings, the neck becomes brittle & cracks. This is quite common and can be prevented by annealing the necks. There are several methods for doing this. Here is one of the simplest.

Canada banning wood stoves
wildcat junkie replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That logic is fine when your nearest neighbor's house is 200' from yours and there are perhaps 5 neighbors within a mile, but what about a large city where that irresponsible neighbor's house is 25' from yours and there are 8,000 neighboring houses within a mile of yours? Any one of which may have another irresponsible wood stove user living in it. -
It's not misfires or hangfires that are the concern. It is increased bolt thrust. The case is supposed to grip the chamber walls in the milliseconds during peak chamber pressure. Having lube on the cases or a buildup of lube in the chamber from repeated use of cartridges that have sizing lube left on them will put more strain on the bolt logs. Not a huge concern for a modern bolt action rifle, but it could be a serious problem W/something like a Garrand or lever action that is not as strong as a bolt action. Besides, it's a lot easier to drop the cases into a vibrating tub cleaner as you prep them & leave it run for several hours than using "elbow grease" to thoroughly wipe each case free of all traces of lube.

As it should be IMO. If ML optics were limited to what was available before say 1870, few, if any would want to use them for hunting.

When I decided to hunt deer in S Indiana in 1977 it was a choice of either a ML or shotgun. Since shotguns weren't capable of the accuracy that they are now, I chose to hunt W/a muzzle loader for both the general firearms & muzzle loader seasons. I killed a deer, sometimes more than 1, W/a muzzle loader every year but 1 from 1983 to 1994 when I won an 870 Express. After a brief period of using the shotgun in the general firearms season, I returned to my .54 flintlock as my primary weapon for all of my deer hunting. After moving to NY I switched to CF rifles.

Just pointing out that most of the so called "improvements" are really improving much.

.535 round balls don't need to expand for quick humane kills, but when they do they are devastating.

Where did you get that information? It only take as simple majority vote to pass legislation in the Senate. I think you are confusing that with "cloture" Cloture — a process for limiting debate on a measure — is the Senate's only weapon against the filibuster. The details have changed several times since its creation a century ago, but here's the rule as it stands today: cloture is invoked when three-fifths of all sworn-in senators vote for the cloture motion.

You didn't clean the sizing lube off your cases?
