Im Pretty sure today(Feb 9th) was the last waterfowl hunting day East of SunkenMeadow/Sagtikos Parkway. The only seasons left are the long one that is west of SunkenMeadow/Sagtikos and east of the Nassau/Queens Border. Then their is one upstate later this month. So you may want to get that boat out. That is right, Long Island is broken up into 3 parts, with different seasons. The western most part has by far the best season, but their is no public land to hunt. So unless you own some land, its impossible to hunt it.

Early October i was hunting turkey in Delaware County. Small bear comes out of the cornfield and just keeps coming towards me. I get up and start yelling and he does nothing. I was in full camo, so maybe he thought i was a dancing tree lol. Eventually he got too close for comfort and i took a shot in the air to scare him away. And it worked like a charm. Heard a few weeks later when bow season opened someone tagged him,

I stopped by timber point earlier this week. Someone had a nice natural blind set up in a nice spot by the water. And looks like they were hunting with floaters in the water. That was all fine, but their were a lot of spent shells and cigarette butts all around the spot. I did not want to hang around that spot too long, some ECO would come by and think that it was me. People really need to clean up after themselves, otherwise they will ruin the spot for everyone else.

I hunted Rocky Point on day 2 of the shotgun season. Lots of deer tracks in the snow, but did not see any deer.

Whats a good public spot to take out some Geese. I dont have a boat so foot access would be best. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Our club requires us to wear orange. And with a lot of people hunting opening week, you are pretty stupid if you dont. -
When i took my course, their was a guy who did not have a good grasp of the English language. So he was given an oral test using a translator. So yes, oral tests are allowed and apparently very common.

May be a little late now, you probably wont get anyone till turkey, or next years deer season. I dont think anyone will risk trespassing to hunt any small game.

Easter is always on the first Sunday, after the first fool moon, after the first day of spring. Unfortunately this year it happened to fall on Youth Hunt Weekend.
