I actually saw one of these eating on the side of I-87. Just before Exit 16 onto route 17. Made me double take.

Its great that he got it. Too bad about the coyotes though. Maybe its time to nail some 'yotes with the recurve for revenge.

I found this quote from the article funny. "The fearless hogs have already killed one dog in New York and chased several hunters through the woods." Why did they not turn around and fire? lol. -
I bought my first trailcam a few weeks ago. I put it out on private land i have permission to hunt. Wanted to leave it there for 24 hours just to try it out. I go back the next day and the thing is gone. I talk to the owner and she says that they let mushroom pickers walk the property. I was pissed but what could i do. I just took it as a learned lesson. I get a call from my uncle yesterday, he was at the property and he has my camera. I wont know till later what happened to it and how he got it back for me. Check back later for an update.

I was in Brooklyn. Taking some things out of my car in between offices. Apparently one office was fine, other office is in an old brick warehouse building and apparently it shook so much everyone ran out for their lives. A few of the girls demanded to be transferred to the other office because they are afraid of the old building lol.

I fished East Branch of the Delaware, in Hancock last weekend. Got a grand total of 0 fish, lol. But it was totally worth it when i got to watch two eagles swoop down and grab fish. Dont get to see that everyday.

Just curious about how you guys kill a fish after catching it. I know some people let the fish suffocate in the air. And some people like to dispatch the fish in any number of ways. What do you guys do/prefer?
-
Lol, i dont even know where that is.
-
The city will probably do the same thing they are doing out on long island and in residential areas in New Jersey. People will come in at night and kill them. The city did it with the Geese at Prospect Park too. Also i did not know Staten Island had that kind of deer population. Probably some really good shed hunting out there.

Never used anything like that, def worth a shot if you fish in rocky bottoms. At that price it isnt a horrible waste of money if it accomplishes nothing.

Toruk- Ye i didn't realize you were using expensive lures, that is definitely not necessary. Live bait is the way to go. I like to use nightcrawlers, but i know people who hate using that for saltwater fish(which kind of make sense since their are none in the middle of the ocean). Ill suggest using a little squid for Strippers. Localqdm- Nope never used anything like that, does it only prevent the weight from getting stuck, or does it protect the hook somehow too?

Do you remember what exit?
-
Wait, so the club told some contractors "Go ahead and dump all the fill you want". Sounds like this mess is only gonna get worse.
-
You learned a good way to do it from the guy upriver. Its the most common thing used for saltwater fish around NYC. But sounds like you got a little unlucky with it. If you want to fish around NYC, i recommended you head out to Broad Channel out by the Rockaways. Their is a park people fish off of, with much success i should add. Also the water is probably a bit less disgusting then what you get at the heart of the city. But if you are set on fishing the Hudson, then the setup you used is the best, assuming you dont get it stuck again.

Family gathering in Kerhonkson NY. Nothing special. BBQ, fireworks and beer. The usual.

Hunt Day 1: I get into a field at 415 to watch the sunrise over the mountains. At about 5 o clock i move to the edge of the field and set up, begin my calling, all quiet for about an hour. Then i hear what sounds like a gobble, and my heart starts pounding. I call a bit more, and the voice is getting closer. I get super excited, then i see him behind me and to my right. I sit steady, waiting him to get closer. He is SPRINTING in gobbling his head off. And heres where it all goes wrong, for SOME REASON, whether it be excitement or stupidity, i decide to change my shooting position. He is behind some trees so i make my move. As i finish my motion, i see him stop, split second later he is running in the other direction. He used his xray vision to see through the trees. I sat their half crying half laughing at myself. Hunt Day 2: Different part of the field, i hear gobbling from the early morning. This bird is answering my calls, hes answering random crows calling, and even birds chirping. Just gobbling his head off. But he isnt coming any closer, it sounded like he was moving closer than farther, i assumed he was strutting his stuff to attract girls. So when he was on the far end of his path i moved closer, hoping to catch him on his return trip. But apparently i did it too late, when i got to my next spot he was hobbling even farther down. Then even farther, and then silence. Guess he just got done strutting or walked off with a real girl. Ehh well, theres always next week.

I heard them gobbling the 2 mornings i hunted(in Delaware). Although i heard from some people that their is an overpopulation of hens, so Toms dont need to gobble to compete for mates. Guess we need to step up our Fall hunting.
