  1. Nope, that would be cool though! It's just a sticker that came with a catalog (I think) one time and it fit perfectly on my butt stock so I slapped it on their a few years ago. It only seemed fitting seeing how I'm pretty confident I'm Cabelas number one customer lol!
  2. Meatmuzzy: felt good but it was bitter-sweet too. It was just a beautiful morning to be a turkey hunter and shooting almost ruined the fun if that makes sense, because the sights and sounds were all over. I guess I get a bit spiritual sometimes lol but an awesome hunt to say the least!
  3. Beard is 9.5" for the most part with 1 strand making it 10" haha with inch spurs. I estimate the weight at 18-20
  4. Had an awesome morning boys! I have hunted this bird 3 different times now and got darn close on Sunday about mid-morning. He's been a sporadic roost'r, usually way back in the timber where I wouldn't be able to get in quiet enough. My plan this morning was to get to the field I have spotted him in with his hens before and just stand by a tree off the edge of the field and listen for where he was because he's been very vocal in the mornings. Well as i made my way down a logging road to the field he rang out the first gobble of the morning and he was roosted right on the field I was headed too. With the cover of darkness on my side I was able to slip within about 60 yards of where he was gobbling just around the corner from him. I let out a few tree yelps and down he came with his hens. After picking around for a bit i was able to finally convince his hens to make there way over to me and I shot him at 30 yards about 10-15 mins after they flew down at 5:35. Best gobbling morning so far! I could hear birds gobbling on all the surrounding properties. --His fan is quite pitiful to be honest so that's why I don't have him fanned out. He must have been a fighter because he was missing a good portion of his middle tail feathers.
  5. Hens are a dime a dozen right now man, the long beards will come around eventually. Me and buddy were just talking today about how many hens we have seen already this season compared to past seasons. Today was the first day I have seen a Tom strutting by himself at about 8:45.
  6. Just a little shout out to the guys that finally got to hit the woods this weekend. I'm fortunate enough to hunt 15-20 days this turkey season and I know for some guys it's only 6-8 days. Hope you all enjoyed the first weekend of the season and had some success!
  7. Jakes are ok late season if you haven't had much luck but otherwise hold out for a Tom.
  8. Nice kill man! For future reference a longbeard will have a fully rounded fan when in full strut and jakes will always have high feathers in the middle of their fan which makes it quick and easy to tell the difference. None the less you got to smell a little gunpowder in the spring air
  9. My farm that has been loaded with birds every time I scouted it had to be, of course, an absolute ghost town on opening day. Called in one jake that was rip raring to go, but I'm a long beard guy. Nice to be out again and wake up with the woods none the less. Plenty of season to go boys!
  10. Awesome man! What a way to spend the day!
  11. I'm in my college library so I'm going to refrain from the second video for now lol, but the first one is pretty convincing as to the devistation of a RAGE!
  12. Sounds like its going to be a real grind for you as well TeeBug haha. Jerk!????
  13. Class 9:30-3:20 then work 4-11, talk about the longest day of my life!! Idk how I'm going to make it through the day!!
  14. Was thinking the same thing Geno
  15. Hit the meadow first. They'll return to the ridge later in the morn when the sun gets hot so they can hang in the shade. Hens tend to visit the roosting area to see who else is hanging their as well periodically throughout the day and the long beards know that so he makes his rounds their as well
  16. Ok that makes sense. I wasn't sure if it was like the saying that if you handle a baby wild animal that the mother won't accept it back because it has human odor on it. I know you obviously didn't touch them but I wasn't sure if your presence made her "turn her back" so to speak on the 4 that didn't return to the den.
  17. I wouldn't expect anything less from you Wolly, good work man. What's the deal with her not allowing the four outside back into the den?
