  1. Something has changed Phade, I drive by every now and then around prime time in the evenings and havent caught them out feeding in a while, I also have gone back to the secluded field I took the pics from and did not find them their either, although it was warm that night. Maybe the warm weather in general has kept them hunkered down. They are living on a small hill above a pond that is thick with overgrown grass and pucker brush, but it's very close to a busy road and several houses. Im sure not the only one who knows of them, so maybe road hunters have made them edgy. I personally am not the reason their pattern has changed, I know that without a doubt.
  2. I posted this picture not to long ago and told you guys that I decided to name these bucks George and Ralphy. Well I took those pics in the evening, but that same morning I had went out in the rain to cover my tracks and put a camera on the field I ha originally found these bucks in. Well I pulled the card today and got pics of both bucks but only the pics of George came out the clearest.
  3. Poor Ohio haha. Im posting the entire NY stage border
  4. Im glad to see that you all agree with me. There's too many misconceptions that big deer only live in the heartland. If anyone of us owned property on a scale as large as the kisky's, lakosky's, drury's, etc. we could grow deer every bit as big as those bruisers they shoot.
  5. No deer farming for me Doc, just farming my land and managing it through such things as timber improvement and controlled burns for the ultimate deer haven! I don't need those supplements. Saves me money haha! As for you Grow, I also agree, half the reason I'm so confident in this approach is because I see good deer get killed around here year after year, off unmanaged property that gets pounded by gun hunters. Im not saying ill ever have the money to do it, but it's fun to think about.
  6. So me and my buddy had a little disagreement the other night. It started out by me saying that with all these hunting shows of guys shooting big deer on their own personal farms in the Midwest, I would bet there's a large majority of guys who would love to see someone grow and shoot big deer in the northeast, such as NY. I argued that if I owned at least 200 acres of quality tillable and timbered property, that it would be possible to shoot deer in the 150+ class after 4-5 years of strict deer management, possible cooperation with bordering landowners, and optimum land management. Im not saying on a yearly basis I could shoot big giants. But I'd say that it would not be out of the question. He firmly disagreed with me. What do you guys say? I believe ny has great big buck potential!!
  7. Both shows are definitely in my top 3, gotta love Bill Winke, I'm pretty sure he's part deer himself. As much as lee and tiff catch flack, I still enjoy watching them hunt their own place. You can't argue Lee's passion for whitetails. We'd all do the same if we were in his shoes, don't kid yourself.
  8. great pics. nice and clear. stud buck too!
  9. No bows and definitely no doe's with this farmer. It's certainly inconvenient Phade, being that I prefer to bow hunt, and it would likely be my best chance at killing one of these bucks imo. Once the guns come out these bucks will be in the next state over.
  10. Thanks guys and girls, I figure'd y'all would enjoy some nice bone! Unfortunately the owner of this particular farm believes archery tackle is unethical so I won't be able to go in after these deer for nearly 2.5 months which gives them plenty of time to leave, and quite a few other people hunt/bootleg this property. I'll try my damnedest though!
  11. I hit the roads last night for the first time this summer to scout some of the farms near my house that I have permission on. I came across two "deer" in a small green field on one of our better northern zone farms, but upon further examination through the binos, these were actually two great bucks! I knew they had impressive antler but with the sun fading my binos were letting very little light through and it was tough to see. I went out mid-day today and put a camera up along the corn that bordered the green field I found them in too see exactly what they were up too night and day. Sitting at home this evening around 7, I thought to myself, I bet those deer are using the field on the other side of the hedgerow, its bigger, just as lush, and better protected from human view. So I grabbed my mothers DSLR and hit the road. With a south wind I could glass the field from atop a small knoll and be protected by corn that was split 50/50 with the large greenfield. As I crested the knoll my suspicion proved true, the bucks were already out in the field at 7:30. I told my dad last night jokingly that I would call these bucks George & Ralphy; George being the light color'd velvet 8 pointer, and Ralphy being the dark velvet'd 9/10 pointer. Even with the cameras biggest lens zoomed all the way in, I still had to crop the pics to zoom them in some more so I apologize for the pic quality.
  12. That's because you're a bearded legend in my book. If you're beard could talk!
  13. Awesome stuff Sam. What a cutie! She's a foot stomper though, we'd better take her out lol
