  1. doe no blocky head! evey bb I have seen had blocky heads
  2. broke my collar bone a few days before gun season a few years ago. Still went hunting opening day but brought my 06 instead of my shotgun due to recoil differences. Got 2 shots at a pretty nice buck (at least an 8 possible 10) twice while standing broadside at about 80/90 yards. Missed em twice no blood no hair followed tracks for a couple hundred yards. wasn't sure if the gun was off or if it was me. the following year I check my gun and it was still dead on. I must of been flinching at the shot since that was the side my collar bone was broken on when anticipating the recoil. was bummed but what can ya do?
  3. god bless Tim and all of our vets
  4. Another day...another go. Taking friends daughter out 1st season has to hunt with an adult. She is 15. Gonna go to a blind where I shot my 10 pointer last year. Hope she gonna get something since I won't be bringing a gun it will be all up to her. Wind wnw about 20mph..gonna be cold!
  5. Up and out the door in few. Good luck to all who give it a go this am.
  6. 40 years of hunting and never shot a doe before. Because of the shortages this year, I told myself If a lone big older doe comes by me this year I would take her. Got into my tripod stand at about 10 to seven and she came by at 7:00 and gave me that opportunity. My very first doe!
  7. Congrats to all who scored today - hoping the rest score tomorrow! I'll be out in the morning, before I go get my new pups, as the adult with my friends daughter's first youth hunt. She just got her licenses today. Gonna try and get her on a buck. If I knew this before today, I would have saved my doe tag for her but I just found out tonight and offered to take her tomorrow morning for her first hunt. Hoping she has beginners luck. Ah good times passing on the traditions!
  8. Good luck everybody. Stay warm...it's a cozy 12 degrees here right now in 4f. Stay safe...don't forget your safety orange.
  9. Browning A-Bolt 12 guage slug gun with lightfield slugs......of course!
  10. Yes they do and it's only an extra $10 for the warranty on all 3 pairs Not $30..
  11. Am in rifle country and always choose my Browning A-Bolt 12 guage Slug Gun utilizing lightfield slugs. My shots are typically under 75 yards and no tracking is EVER needed as long as you do your part. I do have an 06 and 30-30 but they never go on a deer hunt - they watch the safe!
  12. you betcha...sometimes I think they just die knowing its coming
  13. I usuall have the gun sitting in the v in a tree stand or when on the ground. In a blind I can get away with more movement so I usually don't hold it on the v then.
  14. Prob no difference but I like the mono - less weight to carry - i'm gettin old....lol
  15. I always use a monopod in a tree stand or blind or sitting on the ground/stool. With crossbow-I use a tripod with a pig saddle or a primos tripod and their gun holding adapter to hold the damn thing until I'm ready to use it. When ready to use cross bow to shoot I either free hand hold it or use a mono pod.
  16. yea, too bad they don't make em anymore. Got about 10 boxes left hoping they last me till I can't hunt anymore (am 62)...lol
