You are right, after what happened with the gut shot I had to help clean up Saturday I myself would not have taken that shot either. You did the right thing leave it in God's hands bud.

I hope he is not gut shot, I went through that on opening day my hunting partner's son got buck fever during witching hour and mis-took a spike I passed on in the morning for a 4 pointer. We were out in the woods until 11pm competing with a bobcat following that blood trail. Finally recovered, gutted. That guy will remember that mistake for the rest of his life...

I have never even thought about shooting there. Would it be a fool's errand to try a rifle shot there with a fast moving bullet? I shoot 7mm-.08

Nice thing about that shot, besides not having to track it, is it doesn't ruin a lot of meat.

Thermos for coffee and grunt tube. Didnt realize the thermos till last night, luckily grunt tube last night was able to replace on ride to motel.

In hotel with my friends taking a break. All action has been at partners stand, he saw over 12 deer this morning, no shooters. Only bucks were two spikes. I saw one doe crossing and one year and a half old spike. Going to my second blind for afternoon sit in about an hour. Deer acting very strange, they are literally all over the place.

Only activity here besides watching squirrels dance for me is passing on mr spike. I think this is his first dose of hunting pressure away from mom, he sure was spooked.
