How to get rubber smell out of my truck bed
Nytracker replied to luberhill's topic in General Chit Chat
Time ... and more time . -
Picked 4 more zucchini and 3 yellow squash. Yellow squash are ripening small dont know what's up with that . Watered hard again tonight as you can't count on rain although they are calling for some tomorrow. Nothing on local news but we are in a drought for sure. Lawn has burned up and haven't mowed in 3 weeks .

Picked 4 zucchini and 5 yellow squash last evening after watering garden. Another chipmunk met its demise in the jaws of the victor rat trap . No chucks to be seen since last one shot Saturday. Wife surprised at the number of chipmunks killed.

All hung up to dry

Garlic harvest this morning . 86 bulbs 2 varieties. Not sure what the first is as I bought them at local garden place . Just listed them as hard neck or soft. Planted the biggest bulbs from last years crop. The other is german garlic gifted me by daughter. They grew really well .golf ball for comparisons.

Well guess I have more critters than I thought. 2 chucks ,2 chipmunks and a vole. Chucks with 22. I chipmunk with pellet pistol, one chipmunk and vole with good old victor rat trap. Going scorched earth on vermin this year . Added a small box trap to the mix today. Found where the chipmunks are digging around the foundation of house. I won't have it .

Lol no I don't know everything but I have dealt with alot of garden issues . If it can happen I've had it after 35 years of my personal garden and many more growing up in my gramps garden. Alot of the garden plants we do today don't do well with cooler temps. Most are subtropical. Peppers tomatoes and some squash. Like warm temps but not much above 85. Tomatoes plants will darken after a cold snap or a cool night . They are trying to draw more heat from the sun. If my plants are stressed I don't prune until they show fresh signs of growth . Early on if I have blossoms early I will pinch off . If I see deformed fruit I remove it so as not to waist energy on bad.
-
Looks like catfacing. Too much nitrogen or damage to the blossoms. Inconsistent temperatures sub 60 degrees at the time of setting fruit .

Picked up my truck today ... looks as good as new . Just over a month start to finish. Im guessing im lucky compared to some .

They don't make a wrench long enough for me to work from home. Covid shut down sucked. I ran my ass off for months trying to do the work of 4 mechanics. 12 hour shifts. Worked a couple 24 hour shifts do to call offs. Told my bosses if they do it again I was quitting.

Personaly no. My gramps buck shot in the 50s was one of the first bucks ever entered in nysbb. At the time it was 3rd now its been pushed down to 100 or more. Wish I had pictures to post but my dirtball uncle has all the pictures and the head. My other uncle has a blackbear that scored pretty high in nys bbc. I have an archery buck that would place but never bothered to have it officially scored.

For years I added amendments to my soil to combat blossom end rot. Some years worse than ever. Soil tests proved i didnt have a deficiency. A few years ago I read an article that fixed my problem . Inconsistent watering. When a plant gets stressed the little hairs on the roots are the first to be damaged. These root hairs are responsible for taking up nutrients from the soil. I now mulch heavy water each plant with a wand every night unless we get a good rain . If its a long stretch of heat and no rain I water a good heavey soaking. The article stated that for the most part farms need to replace nutrients because of over working the land . Also stated that there is no real deficiency in the soil for most of the continent. Has worked for me . I still fertilize and lyme.

Slip bobber rig and a minnow . Jig. Drop to the bottom and jig the first 5 feet then move up another 3 feet . Prospect the area .. paddle back up start over . Mark where you hook up and grid the area . Or you could buy a fish finder and find the fish.

Yup had to drag it off the road it was jello...

I usually buy leupold but BPS didn't have much of a selection. I had a few hundred in gift card and points so I picked up the vortex . Seems nice . Thanks for the heads up on the warranty. I had the scope on the gun for 30 plus years I definitely got my $40. Bucks worth.
-
Cheap old Bushnell 4x scope gave up the ghost. It was getting blurry but could still kill with it. A few more misses than I care to admit the last 2 years. Tried for the chuck living under the shed 30 yards . Clean miss. Snuck back in the basement and finished the job with ruger 22/45. Love that little pistol. Trip to BPS and picked up a diamondback 3x9x40 to go on the 10/22. More scope than I need but I probably won't want for more. Besides If I don't like it on the 22 I can always buy a new gun to put it on .
-
Double tapped my woodchuck this morning at 30 yards . Love my 22/45. Had to use the pistol as the 10/22 scope appears to be off and cloudy . Only 30 yards. Problem is I find out there's a second one .

Issues With New Smith and Wesson Victory
Nytracker replied to Splitear's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Only s&w i ever owned was an auto ... dont much recall what it was . I think it might have been a 22A target model . Jammed all the time . New mags, mini mags to federal blue box . Cleaned it as per manufacturer recommendations. Traded it for my ruger22/45 hunter . Best decision I ever made. That said I would be on the phone with s&w first thing in the am . I hope they can fix it for you. The one I had was accurate as all get out but no fun to shoot for the jamming. -
Happy Independence Day!

You harvested garlic already? I'm thinking mine has another 3 weeks or so as the leaves haven't really started to brown .

Kind of crazy for today.. We are so use to clicking a button and getting what we want today . We use to go to junk yard for parts to save money and we didn't have time to wait. As a kid l remember sending for stuff in the mail and it took 6 to 8 weeks. That was the norm . If you got it sooner it was fast. I'm happy it's only been a month

Called to check on my truck this afternoon . Paint work is done all parts are here. He has 2 people on vacation next week but he hopes to get it back to me Thursday or Friday. Good news .

Will have a trap tomorrow afternoon ... I will be vigilant with scoped 1022 or 22/45 until its dead or in the trap then dead .
