  1. I put off buying a snow blower and a new ice hut figuring if I did i wouldn't get to use either... can't make the ice and snow gods happy for nothing.
  2. Ok so this is just a guess. As long as there is value in the site . Advertisement money coming in verses cost of doing bussiness, space on the server and such it keeps going. When the money runs out or the space is required and there is no value it will get purged. As I said before I do not know what is the situation for this site so its all a guess I'm not a an administrator or owner
  3. I researched a little while back and if an owner doesn't keep up with the site fee's and updates it reverts back to invision. Invision will let it run until the site withers away or it is purged . Not saying I know this to be true with us but..
  4. I would have thought it was a union job except there is not enough people standing around.
  5. I hunt because my family did.In the beginning it was to kill a deer for food. Then it was to kill a big buck. In my 20s and 30s it was to feed my kids . Now its about quiet time in the woods to reflect on my life. When I was young hunters were my heroes. My grandparents were hunters as well as my uncles and aunts. We took pride in the accomplishments of shooting deer. There wasn't as many around and if you were lucky enough to get a party permit you shared the deer. Today most of my heroes have past on. I have one son that goes out once or twice a year and seems he has always got some place else to be . I know my grandsons will never hunt. Now I hunt for me. If I get a deer great I will have some great food. If I don't get a deer great I still spent some time for me. I'm still closest to my heroes when I'm hunting.
  6. Alot of snow up that way. Much easier to catch a cat on the porch that it is to chase down a rabbit. Nice shoveled walk and driveway.. much easier. Sister-inlaw had a little dog taken off her porch a few years back . She was lucky to be coming up from the horse barn and seen it struggling with the dog still being attached to a long line. She chased it down and it dropped the dog. Dog was ripped up pretty good but it survived . Kill them all is my opinion.
  7. Yes I think thats the one they were showing off at work
  8. Pretty much my back yard .
  9. I remember while turkey hunting once a neighbor lady came riding horseback by my gramps and I. She was topless. She never noticed us. Gramps just grinned and recommended I not speak of it to my grandmother. I hunted that corner alot after that.
  10. Dont think I have even gotten a stern look since I have been here. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it .
  11. I remember a 3 axle dump truck clearing snow for ice boat race on Sodus bay back in the 80s.Scared the chit out of me and my buddies. We couldn't see what was making the noise as it was covered in a cloud of snow . Coming at us we could see the truck.
  12. Thanks guys. Been very frustrating. I have had phone set to save log-in for this app since I became a member So I didn't change a thing. I manually tried different passwords and it kept saying wrong password and email . Just happened to do an auto log in and it worked.
  13. Perch, gills, walleye through the ice . Cold water even makes bass edible.
  14. 4 inches for a man . 6 inches for a wheeler or groups of people recommended. That said there is no safe ice . Just because you read 4 inches of ice in one spot doesn't mean you have 4 inches 10 feet away. Conditions can change rapidly do to moving water ,springs ,and gas holes. Be careful and treat all ice as thin ice.
  15. I have been locked out of my account for months. Today I decided to try one more time and finally got logged back in . I tried for months using the same password. Dont have a clue what caused the problem.
  16. Yup did that says I'm good until December 31 2025. I saved it pdf and printed a hard copy just in case.
  17. Ok so I'm a little confused. I got my original permit in 2011. I certified December 31 2022. My conformation letter says recertification is due December 31 2025 . It hasn't even been a year . Do l need to recertification again today ?
  18. No Apples here. Late freeze. Tree's were in full blossom when It hit . Killed a bunch of shrubs at my house and took out sister in-law peach trees and plums.
  19. It has been my experience salmon dont feed when they come in the river. Salmon actually start changing do to increased hormones in the lake They spend the first day or so in the lower part of the river aclimating . They will strike out of habit. When they move up stream they are motivated to get to their spot. Not much is going to stop them. Once they get to their spot they get cranky.. Then its about agrevating them to strike . They will chase and slash at anything in their space. They aren't eating they are pushing males away and removing egg eating critters from the redd. Fish them low in the river early for reactionary strikes . Once they are on the redd I repeatedly put a bait... fly... in their face until they bite. I personally belive most salmon are flossed or snagged whether intentionally or not. Just my observstions.
  20. I don't much worry about the ads just x off them . Your right there is alot more ads than there use to be but its the price we pay to view the content.
  21. I have a savage varmet 204 ruger. Shoots .30 at a hundred. Bought it to hunt chucks but I haven't found any on the places I can hunt. Coyotes and farming practices have thinned them out unless they all moved to the city.
  22. Recieved my lifetime license today
  23. Still waiting also. Think mine got here late August last year.
