mac
Hey guys, i am looking for new rifle 3-9x40 scope for mostly deer hunting. I need eye relief close to 4" since my 30.06 does kick a bit and current bushnell is pretty old and i have to get my eyes too close. Other than reading the scope company's websites & optics reviews of each , can you let me know what your own field experience has been? that sometimes goes further than what the company specs state on a spec sheet.. leaning toward Leupold VXII price range less than 300..any thoughts ? thanks
Pygmy
Can't go wrong with a Leupy... Keep in mind that with a variable, eye relief decreases as power increases..
phade
Look at Redfield...nice option. Owned by Leoupold.
WNYBuckHunter
Check out Vortex as well. Same warranty as Leupold, and a better price with equal glass. The Crossfire 2 and Diamondback lines are their value stuff. If you want high end, the Vipers, Viper HS and PST lines are phenomenal. BizCT
Leupold rules all!
Uncle Nicky
Can't beat Leupold, and made in America to boot!!! I've never gotten a bad Bushnell scope, if you're looking to buy something lower end. No comment on eye-relief...anyone who shoots or hunts often enough is bound to get a crescent-shaped gash in the forehead sooner or later.

I can recall at least FOUR times standing there, blood dripping off the end of my nose, feeling like a DUMBCHIT...hehehehe...

Early
My experience with scopes has been limited: Leupold...Burris...Bushnell...and Tasco. Frankly, I can tell little difference between them. I think I like the Burris Compact (a true compact) on my Remington Model Seven about the best. Fortunately, no scars yet....but, then, I always get as great an eye relief as I can.
