wooly
My Primos "Truth cam" has been chewing through batteries lately even though it's been registering very few pics. I was suspisious when it started flashing "low batts" the day after I replaced them with some freshies and returned the next day to find them drained again. I decided to pop the hood and have a look inside to see if I could get to the heart of the matter. To my surprise, I couldn't even locate the camera in there, lol. The problem turned out to be the spring tension on the negative battery terminal wasn't holding them together tight.....or at least that's what I hope it was. 365 pics of a coon family last night at the cornfield and battery life is still at 99% even using all 60LED's. Man, I felt like a blonde whos car just broke down when I opened this baby up! Next operation on schedule is a heart transplant from a Wildgame IR4 to a IR5! Cabin Fever
YIKES!! Yeah, that's not quite what I would have expected to see inside one either! Sounds like you have the problem figured out though! Nice detective work!
Lawdwaz
365 pics of some coons wouldn't please me. How long were they around, 2 days? And D batteries, do many cameras run those? They can get expensive!! My two cams take AA's (8 each) but they seem to last quite a while.
WNYBuckHunter
Thats the older Truth cam. The new ones use AAs. I replaced the LCD screen in one of my Moultrie I60s, which is a bigger cam than that, and theres not much in there either. If they went with a rechargable lithium battery pack instead of regular batteries, they could make these cams the size of a cell phone. The batteries are what takes up all the space. fasteddie
I hadn't seen Tops brand batteries before . I have some older WildView cams that take the AA batteries and eat them up . Have a few that use the "C" batteries and they are okay . The "D" batteries seem to last a long time in one of my Moultries and last for several months . growalot
you should send an E-mail to Primos...tell them what you found and the fix......They may thank you with a gift....That is if your warranty is expired...other wise ...well you know...lol
Geno C
i stepped away from cams with big batteries, i never had great luck with battery life. Now i spend a little more and get the Bushnell cams with the AA. I buy the rechargeable ones and thats all i use. You should send an email to Primos and see what that say
