virgil
i recently bought a scent drip bag. i've never used one before. does anyone have any advice as to how/when would be best to use it. i know they're usually used in scrapes. but, i'm curious if they can be used in the early season or in any other way. ELMER J. FUDD
hang it when it's cooler, like in the evening or morning. They work, it helped redirect some deer for me.
fasteddie
Make a fake scrape . Rake leaves , debreis so you leave a 3' bare circle in a spot where you can hang the bag overhead . You want to simulate it looking like a scrape .
Culvercreek hunt club
I'd put it out...I have 3 scrapes near one of my stands already. sunlight will make it drip more...I like mne in the shade, I think it uses less scent. the heat increases the pressure inside and forces the liquid out the tube. I found direct sunlight really pumps it out.
Doc
I'm curious as to how much scent one goes through with one or two or three of those dripbags. I know that stuff isn't cheap. Is the whole thing really worth doing? Doc
Culvercreek hunt club
not sure in the sun, Doc....always empt when I check it. I have used i bottle a week but I water it down some when I rely on the day heat and not the sun to make it work. I have had bucks on it but never have taken one off a scrape I made. so no...it's not worth it if you measure it in venison in the freezer but is is you get satisfaction out of knowing you fooled one and he was there...even if you weren't...lol
Doc
Yeah, it does sound like fun. Of course I am your basic cheap-skate, so I always worry about things like that. ;D
burmjohn
What if you pee in the dripper??
sweet old bill
I had a guy that use to stop in my bow shop and had 3 drippers out in the Month of Oct thru the first week of DEC. He would buy this mix that made a full gal from a powder. He showed me photo's of the fake scrapes and how they were being used. I tried one year and did not work for me, but I also had a dripper that did not seem to have a good flow.
