yukonhunter
I'm totally disgusted right now, I ordered 1200 rounds of .223. Ammo over the phone with cabelas. The order went through fine, and then I look on the site today and notice all the bulk rifle ammo is gone. I called them up to find out they cancelled my order and they told me they just found out today that they will not be selling so called assault weapon ammo over the internet. You will never get my business again. And I'm a long time customer
Doc
Sounds like they are saying that they are getting out of the business of selling ammo, because there is no such thing as assault weapon ammo.
ants
Is a bolt action or single shot 223 an assault weapon ? What about your deer rifle in .308? How bout an AR style rifle in .22LR. Is .22LR "Assault rifle ammo"? Get ready guys.. I think we are going to see a lot of companies fold like a $2 umbrella, in light of this school shooting. Corporations are dumping their stocks in gun companies, sporting goods chains are not selling "assault" weapons.....It will go on and on Boiling the frog
MACHINIST
This is BS!!!I cant understand their thoughts there?
MACHINIST
after reading this I called cabelas as I buy quite a bit through them and also visit the store in PA once a year.I asked "the lady" on the phone and she knew nothing about it but put me over to a "service specialist".Their hours are like bankers hour so they will be back on monday.First thing Monday I will be calling them.If in fact this is true I will not buy things from them and support places like midwayusa. They are starting to sell almost everything cabelas does anyhow. 13BVET
I believe Sportsmans Guide still sells the ammo. At least it was still on their site yesterday.
13BVET
Just checked Sportsmans Guide. Unfortunately, their on back order big time.
Doc
The new Cabelas policy is probably real good news to Midway. I'm sure they will be happy to pick up the slack.
Lawdwaz
When Cabela's drops beef jerky, smoked salmon and fruit cakes THEN I'll boycott them. I'd not sweat the ammo issue too quick I think after things calm down and the people in the top tier of these companies have some time to mull their decisions over they'll be selling it again. It wasn't the gun or ammo that "did" the killing of all those children & adults, it was a young man with serious mental health issues. Very sad...... the blur
I was in Cabelas today. .223REM ammo, $8 / box. Not much left of it, and they do have a 10 box limit. But it was there. Most of the other ammo was almost sold out as well. Even .22LR. Edited January 2, 2013 by the blur
Mr VJP
I suspect we will soon have to go through the same amount of hassle to buy ammo as we currently do to by a rifle. Lots of paperwork and a NICS check before you can take it out the door. And very high prices will be the norm. The government will try to throw as many obstacles in our way as they can, until most people give up and decide owning a firearm, shooting one, or going hunting, is not worth the trouble. None of the current generation of shooters or hunters will ever give up, but do you think your grandkids and great grandkids will get involved if they face those obstacles? That is the plan I think the government is implementing.

Doc
That why im gonna reload my ammo!!! and yes before you say it i still am gonna need powder primers ect so thats another idea out the window.......... Everytime you buy bullet making components, get 2 or 3 times more than you really need and stash some of them away. You're young enough so that you should be able to develop a pretty sizeable inventory after a few years. I have a lifetime supply of everything that I use.
