Sheds in region 3

Any sign of bucks dropping horns yet in westchester/Putnam? My 8 year old is all over me to take him since he found his first one last year.

I saw two bucks this past weekend each with only one antler in orange county. Looks like they are starting to drop them.

Tx...maybe we'll take a drive this weekend. Last year I fond my first fork horn and then one week later he wanted to go. I Couldn't believe he found it by himself. So cool.

Good luck. Last year I was lucky enough to find both antlers of a nice 6pt only a few feet apart.

Found my first one today! Had a little dilemma...do I show my kids to get them excited that the season is started or keep it to hide when they come for some instant gratification?

I decided to show them when I got home. I'd rather them have a genuine experience but I'll see if that's a mistake if and when frustration sets in!

Found my first shed of the season in orange county(3m). Nice little forked horn 6pt. Had some solid mass for a 1.5 year old. Should be a decent buck next year. Found this in a high traffic bedding area.

Cool horn joe12. We took a few short walks this weekend. The boy were patient and found a bunch of great sign. Walked up to a bunch of deer..all does. Still looking for my matching shed.

Went for two 90 minute hikes today and yesterday with the kids. No luck but what a great day for a hike.

We got 2 monster 14 pointers here in the city , they look like twins . Last year my dad and i saw one of them with full head gear in May !

This is starting to sound like a shed journal now!

You've been putting in some serious hiking time lately.

Things should start picking up this month with a good batch of fresh antlers hitting the ground.

I guess so wooly. My hope was to see if there are others in region 3 shed hunting. I guess not(or they just ain't saying)...which is fine by me!

These are two finds from last year(my sons and mine). Are they matched? The were foundin the same patch of woods but on opposite ends.

Hard to tell from pics sometimes, so you just gotta go with what you know about where you found them, the similarities and differences, and what your gut tells ya! I've seen a lot of antlers that don't even come close to looking like they came from the same deer, but I have proof they did!

Two nice antlers to tag team up on with your son regaurdless!

Took my son and daughter (couldn't convince his twin brother to make the trek) for a snowy walk in the woods today to recover the horns from the dead buck found last weekend. I'm very glad i marked it on GPS since the snow completely buried the evidence. My daughters claiming ownership of one as her first find! She likes the easy satisfaction...I like that she find this satisfying!!!

Sure beats watching them mutilate a set of Ken and Barbies at $30 a pop,lol
