Bait Piles on the cheap

My buddy and I hunt on public land. There's a ton of fox and coyote tracks this season. We've been really close to some, but not close enough. We need a bait set I think.

What's a good source for cheap / free bait ? I know about recommended ways to hold it in its place longer, but other than deer carcasses ( none this season ) what's out there to get our hands on ?

Any tips for a newbie pred hunter will be appreciated. Thanks.

take up crow hunting gives you another reason to be in the woods and they make nice yote popsicles.
