It's time to clean out the bluebird houses..Actually, I intended to do it last month, but it slipped my mind..( Happens a LOT lately, GRIN)...

It's going to be nice this weekend..I have between 25 and 30 houses that I intend to clean out and evict the white-footed mice that have no doubt taken up residence there..

A few years back I reached in to clean out one of mine and had a Flying Squirrel bail out, startled the heck out of me for a second. :fie:

Al

I haven't found a flying squirrel yet, but one time I decided to clean some out in the fall and found a yellow jacket's nest in one..Since then I wait until COLD weather..

Actually I have found that it's a waste of time to clean them out in early winter..The mice just move right back in and you have to clean them out in the early spring again anyway..

done....It's oh so wonderful when they leap out of the box at face level...lol

Yeah, growie, I experience that every year..I have mice running up my arms, jumping out of the boxes on my shoulder, head, etc. Fortunately I don't have a RODENT phobia.

A friend of mine does...He's a big, macho, kick-a** type guy, too..We sat together in an enclosed tower stand one time and a deer mouse started scampering around inside the blind..

He jumped up and screamed like a girl !! I thought the big galloot was going to bail out of the tower blind before I managed to catch the mouse and toss him out...hehehehehe...

One year in we were hunting elk in Colorado and sleeping on the ground in a wall tent. The place was LOADED with mice. They would go through the kitchen box, rumble in & out of the pots and pans etc. The last straw was when they spent the night scampering across my pillow all night. No kidding.

I spent the remainder of the hunt (3 or 4 nights) sleeping in my truck..............................................
