Yes we all know how difficult it can be to make a pizza, impossible to replicate any where north of the Tapanzee...haha

funny how easy it is to make but yet MOST places upstate have horrible pizza... doough, sauce, cheese... very easy and yet upstate still cant manage to turn a decent pie. if it wasnt for the city guys relocating your pizza up there would be ketchup and cheese lol

Doe, have you even had food anywhere else in this state aside from up there? dont sound so sheltered... the food  out here is PRONOMINAL in MANY places and areas "down state" compared to the VERY few places that may be lurking around upstate in some areas. there is no comparison bud... not sticking up for down state but lets call a spade a spade. if i grew up up there and didint know what places exisisted down state i might think like you too, BUT i travel and have eating in places where a steak alone is $75, trust me when i say the food here is top.

and how did we get from daughters to food

"dont sound so sheltered" hahaha Truth is you city guys think every thing from down there is the BEST no matter what, even more so if it cost's more.

obviously it was supposed to say phenomenal but i was auto corrected. and your wrong, i happen to think upstate is amazing and i can openly admit that. there is not much i do not like about being upstate, i absolutely love and enjoy it.

in the same breath its the same upstateres on here who have such a huge gripe with city guys or down state in general and love to voice their negative upstate is better then down state attitude. i have never since i have been on here saw you write anything good about down state and trust me there is plenty. but those are actions of close minded people.

its sad, i always meet such nice , up beat people to talk to when im up there but lately it seems like a melting pot of negative up staters on here with nothing pleasant to say about people down here and you wonder why us down staters get defensive?

you shouldnt have to ask that...

Not everytime but in most cases, pizza that costs more does taste better. They are charging more because they are buying higher end cheese, sauce, etc.

I ordered nachos upstate once at a bar, I couldn't believe it was only like $8.  Then it came out with melted cheese whiz. I couldn't even eat 2 bites lol.

Food is like Cars, Equipment, etc. In most cases, you get what you pay for!

Well said.  I enjoy upstate as well. My Mom's side of the family is from the Buffalo area (N. Tonawanda), I have spent a lot of time throughout NYS and enjoy it for what it offers in regards to the outdoors, hunting, fishing, laid-back atmosphere, etc.  Living upstate or downstate is battle I have with myself everyday.  I haven't had the balls to take the big pay cut and move upstate and live in a big house with property, etc....maybe someday when I'm older. For now, I get up there as much as I can to enjoy being away from "the city".

Nah upstaters have no reason to dislike city folks that like to say all women are sluts, or not pretty or the food isn't good or we wouldn't survive with out you and lets not even start on the politicians and on and on....the downstate attitude goes NO WHERE up here. That attitude is prevelent in EVERY thing with you guys, wether its pizza or Weatherby's it's there.

"i have never since i have been on here saw you write anything good about down state" Gee I wonder why?

They're not all great.  But, even the average ones are better than you'll find most anywhere else.

I can agree that some regions have no idea of what good pizza is, but Rochester isnt one of them. I could rattle off quite a few spots in the Rochester area that have far better pizza than anything Ive ever eaten in NYC.

the comment was not that upstate has worse food, but that we have no good food. That's just plain not true. There are world famous and very notable places from Syracuse to buffalo. If you're looking for world class cuisine in the mountains, you're not going to find it. Take a small little place like Chef's in Buffalo for example. Good prices, great food, famous sauce and I can wear jeans or go on my lunch break. No calling a month in advance or having to "be someone" to get a table. If that appeals to you, that's fine. I guess that's why you live in the city and I don't.

Well now you're talking about over all experience.  Some places have better service, roomier seating etc.  But I'm talking about purely the food itself.  Yes, there are some great chefs who don't want to move to a major city.  They're comfortable where they are.  The best pie I've ever had (Triple Coconut Chocolate Cream Pie) was in the suburbs of Philly.  But you will not get a large congregation of great chefs all moving to some small town.  It just does not make logical sense.  It's like saying an aspiring actor/actress wants to move to a small town hoping to bump into a producer.  Not going to happen.  Most chef who consider themselves good and aspire to be big will move to the city in hopes of catching fame.  We also get a ton of bad chefs too.  Chef who thought they were good but really aren't.  Good thing, those chefs are out of business in a year and move back to their home town.  Yes, there are some good chefs in small towns (like I said, those who are happy where they are) but you don't get an overall congregation like you do in a major city and you don't get the variety as you would do in a major city.  You don't have a great Vietnamese chef who was the best in his small town in Louisiana before moving to NYC then walk one block over and find a great Italian chef who was the best from his small town upstate before moving to NYC.

PS: Top sushi chefs will always stay at a port city.  Most of the fish comes in from the ocean goes to a port city where it gets frozen and processed before being shipped to other town.  Sushi is about as fresh as possible so the top sushi chefs work in a port city, goes straight to the harbor in the morning, and hand pick the fish they want.

PS2: Yes, I am a Bourdain fan.  Also a Zimmern fan as well.  And I walk the talk too.  Means I actually went out and tried the different food from different places.

I have a lot of friends and family up state (chemung county) I never had received any complaints about my attitude or general out look. They enjoy my company very much as I enjoy theirs. Honestly speaking, you are wrong if you think you don't have a negative outlook on city folk. City people can say things about upstaters but that doesn't give me the right now fuel to my fire to make a general statement about all upstaters.

You can "hahahah" and say "nah" all you want, your outlook on city guus rings volume through your key board. If I was such a bad city guy and labeled like one as you say then why did I tell you I'd take you to one of my spots, you and steve for that matter and hunt? I guess all city guys are bad huh?

Never have I said ALL city guys are bad, infact I pointed out two in this thread specificaly that I thought personified the stereotype that I don't like. I do not hide the fact that city guys get bumped down the list though, just the way it is "upstate" and I'm not alone.
