burmjohn
Then hopefully they will add back that 30 yard range.
finfeathr
Hopefully they will get rid of some of thier crappy employees...you know, the ones that can't be bothered helping a customer, giving lots of attitude, etc....otherwise, new location or not, they are doomed to failure...I know I will never spend another penny there. finfeathr
Some of the guys there are ok, Angelo, the owner, is never there, or hiding in the back, and Jose' the tyrant runs the store, usually...I know of quite a few people that no longer go there simply because of his presence. Have you tried C&B Archery in Hicksville? great people, Range, haven't heard of any unhappy customers there...
burmjohn
C&B is great! Ralph knows his stuff, and so does the other guy (don't know his name). The range is nice, clean, just wish they had a 30 yard option there.
steve863
Have never been impressed with American Outdoor Sports either. Can't say anything about their archery section since I never bought anything there, but definitely a couple of clowns working behind the gun counter who seem to care less about you. I have bought a couple of guns there dating back to the late 80's and the last one about 10 years ago, but if I were to buy any others it surely won't be from their store. I think I'd rather drive up to Gander in Kingston or Cabelas in CT for a better deal with less attitude from the sales guy.
papabear
American Outdoor Sports sold me a quiver for my bow I did not have it with me I was told if any problems i could bring it back for a full refund when it did not fit my bow I took it back they wanted to give me store credit I need a quiver not credit It took me a few hours of me pissing them off but i got my cash and never returned I don't mined getting the store credit as long as i was told the sign was hidden behind other paper work and I never saw it Papabear

I agree! Some of the guys there are not customer friendly. I believe they are former Edelman's (sp)employees. In any event, I too will no longer patronize them. I hope the owners are reading these posts! I have found that the guys over at Long Island Gun Traders opposite the Nassau Coliseum are great to deal with. I dropped my shotgun last year the day before the opening of gun season and suspected that the scope was out of alignment. They bore sighted my gun for free and felt that it was OK. They were right, the following morning I killed a buck at 75 yards just where I aimed.
finfeathr
There aren't any Edelman's employees there.. Edelman's was my best agent...Bob Ishkanian commissioned a big display from me to put in the store the last few years they were around....I knew just about everyone in there...I know alot of people hated them, but they sure sent alot of business my way, and boy, did they take care of me when they closed the doors. Between a few sweet gun deals, and all the free steel shot I could load in my truck,...I am still using the shells they gave me 10 years ago. steve863
Edelman's closed more than 10 year ago didn't it? I think it's probably been closer to 20 years. I think they were already closed in the early 90's. I still have a box of old shotshells with their price sticker on it.

Sab
Put me in the "American outdoorsman had bad customer service" club. I gave them a few tries, maybe 4-5 and found they really weren't customer friendly. Tried C & B in Hicksville for my archery stuff, loved them. I'm still looking for a good gun place, found a place in merrick called southshore sportsman-seem to be nice guys, good supply of shooting stuff. JMHO Sab
burmjohn
I go to C & B all the time, its right around the block for me. They seem to really know their stuff... And BTW South Shore Sportsman are new sponsors of the site here, and are great guys (the link is on the side under sponsors).
