I just put up a metal barn.  I want to practice Archery in it, not through it.  What would be a good material for stopping the arrow, in case of a miss.

I have heard about using layers of scrap carpets. What kind of area are you trying to cover.

My experience is that carpet won't help much.  If you are more worried about damage to the barn than arrows, several sheets of plywood with some space between them and the barn will do it.

About 4 bales of hay would work. Just stack them 2x2 behind the target.

Dont miss, lol, know of a guy who shoots his crossbow in his shop in the winter, has like 4 block targets and ply wood and it still has a hard time stopping it once the blocks are worn out

Yeah, I think the hay bale trick should work fine. After all, it's not like they will get shot out ..... unless you are a real crappy shot.....lol

I like the hay bale idea, but where does one buy bales of hay?  Obviously I am not a farmer.

Moog ---- Take a ride down Salt or Harris Roads and check with a couple of the farms there . A guy on the south west corner of 441 and Canadaigua road in Walworth sells hay bales .

Moog, theres a guy in Honeoye, right on CR 37 that sells mulch hay by the bale. Runs you $3.50 each. He is about 1 1/2 mile south of the junkyard at the corner of CR 37 and Richmond Mills Rd. Its the first farm house on the left. His name is Carl.
