Canadian goose hunting

I plan on going goose hunting for the first time this year. A friend of mine tells me you can only shoot a bird in flight. I looked all over the dec website but can find no reg stating that. Has anyone else heard that ?

Its an ethics thing, Some people say no others get them any way they can, its more sporting in the air thats for sure,

Not a law by the state, but sometimes law by waterfowlers.

No rule against it that I ever heard of, but trying to kill a wounded goose on the water after you knocked it down is not always easy. So killing one swimming may not be as simple as some think.

I'd say, flush it like a pheasant then shoot it,(jump shooting), I've done that with geese, but more with Brant .

It's a sporting choice, not a law. I personally will only shoot them on the wing, unless finishing a cripple.

Ok thanks. And is September Canadian goose on my 2012-2013 license ? I don't plan on getting my 2013-2014 license until mid sept.

you need to buy a special migration stamp, and don't forget to register HIP

Yes you need last years license with this years duck stamp for September goose hunting

Read all the regs. they have changed this years early season goose. They have upped the bag limits, changed the leagal shooting times and changed the 3 shot limit to 5 in the areas I hunt.
