Hopefully it was handled the right way. Velvet is very delicate.

Yes i handled it with care. The taxidermist said he has to put injections into the rack to preserve velvet. He is very skilled and been doing for 20 years so im confident it will come out perfect.

Nope...found her floating down the creek practically in my yard.  I called the DEC and explained the situation and they said it was okay to keep it.  The meat was not edible as the carcass was a solid block of ice.

Ok, so I have heard of these and to be honest I really feel lazy and don't want to google....lol.

 

Do these does drop their antlers every year?

 

If not, Do they continue to grow so an older antlered doe could have a bigger rack? (now you guys be nice on that one)

 

And to the OP. did you get the doe aged?

Yes i am pretty excited about it . I contacted ny outdoors news and they are gonna do a story on it, im so pumped gonna put article on the wall right next to the mount!!! What a conversational piece. Thanks for all the feedback and good luck out there.

Comparing the head structure of the OP to WNY's, the heads look different. Could be the straight on pic of the OP though.
