First-light
Been a long time since I missed smoke pole weekend. I won't make it up, although I could go the weather is not going to be great for driving and I'm just burnt out. This last weekend I could remember all kinds of crazy weather patterns. I think back and remember one year we camped in the Catskills. I remember sitting outside the tent on Sunday afternoon and it was 75 degrees out! Other years cold, cold cold. I stayed in a stand all day in 15 degree temps not seeing a thing until 4:00 then all hell broke loose and ended up seeing 15-20 deer all together passing right by my stand. Another year had the gun go pop fizzle from too much moister in the powder, shooting at a nice buck that was with a bunch of doe. Have fun be safe fellow Muzzleloaders! phade
It's going to be cold snowy and windy. If you are in the deer, you are in the deer at this time of year and conditions. I'll be wearing my IWOM tomorrow that's for sure. I have an itch for one more encounter. I've shot three deer each of the last three seasons and for some reason, I want to get a fourth if possible and dedicate some of the meat for jerky and venison sticks. Honestly would love to see some antlers, but at this point a nice doe will be in trouble.
blackradio
Taking the bow out in the morning for a ground sit. Hopefully the impending storm will get them moving a bit.
Nomad
Going this afternoon, will have to bring snow shovel in order to get off the road... Was thinking of Sat. Morning as well, but I start nights Sat night and getting up early on the start of a night trick is not as appealing with the freezer full. Think I'll stay home sleep in hit the gym and snowblow driveway before heading to work.
letinmfly
The weather this weekend had brought my season to an abrupt end. Expecting 6-10" of snow in Sullivan county and 3-6" here at home on LI. I'll need to be home to clean up after the storm. Besides the heavy snows will keep deer movement down. Oh well...there's always next year. Good luck to all of you who will be out there!!!
BUCKANDAQUARTER
I just realized me venison provisions are down a lot further than I thought. I have 1 backstrap, 3 stew meat, one roast, one steak package left. And I just know santa is bringing me a dehydrator for venison jerky. I skipped out on yesterdays and this AM hunt. I better get out there!
