Question about harness'

I've never heard of this before.

I use the optional rope style tree strap that you can buy that wraps around the tree instead of the strap that comes with the HSS. I've never had any problem with it restricting my movements.

One thing you want to make sure of is have a minimal amount of slack in the strap that fastens to the tree . I try to put my strap high enough so I have enough slack so I can sit down with no tension on the strap .

If you have too much slack you can drop several feet before the "sudden stop" and possibly snap your back or not be able to get back into the stand . alt=my sidehttp://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/2cents.gif[/img]

Myself I tie off a rope above my head that hangs to about 6-7 feet off the ground. The lower end is tied to a tree step,on this rope is a Prusik knot that I clip onto one or two steps off the ground.

This allows me to be "tied in" while climbing up and down. Seeing as how most falls happen while getting into or out of your stand it only makes sense to be clipped in while doing so !

Here's the thing; No damn way I'm hooking up all that nonsence every time I get into a stand. That's the bottom line.

On two hunts I had misplaced the tree strap to my Gorilla Vest, so I used the included harness that came with my ladder stand, and scored. I found that harness actually less restrictive then the vest. With the vest I can attach the waist belt along with the tree strap and basically glue myself to a tree, but that is to limiting.
