Good hearty meal. Old school food the g/f actually likes, so I make them often. If I could only get her to like homemade chicken and dumplings...

Fry up some chicken, make some waffles, and go. If you want it really good, make some sausage gravy to go with the chicken and waffles! Good old southern comfort food right there.

How do you make your sprouts ? Little olive oil and black pepper ?
Nice grill marks on the steaks btw

Microwave for 3 minutes to make them soft. Then toss with OLive Oil salt and pepper then I char them on grill using wood skewers.

How else do you get get chicken and dumplings?

I make chicken and dumplings the way my mom made them. Boil either chicken drums or thighs ( guess you could use breasts, but white meat poultry doesn't give the flavor of dark meat ) to get a good broth ( add spices to taste ), and then mix up some bisquick to form a dough like paste, drop spoon fulls of the dough in the boiling water and let them cook till done.

I understand how it's made, you said if only you could get your gf to like home made.  What other kind is there if it's not homemade?

Ah, my mistake. Sorry. I have heard of restaurants and people making them like a pot pie with a glob of topping here and there calling it chicken and dumplings.

Peel off the bigger leaves, shred the rest. Stir fry them all with chopped up pre-cooked bacon, salt, and pepper. After you get a nice little crisp, cover with a large lid for a minute or two. Remove lid and stir fry for another minute then serve. Won't be disappointed.
