Easy Hikes with Great Views

Anybody have some easy hikes with great views to recommend?  A couple of weekends ago we hiked up bald Mountain near Inlet.  It was less than an hour to get to the fire tower on top.  Its nice easy walk along a pretty ridgeline.  One is rewarded with nice views of the Fulton Chain.  I took a snap shot (below) of Fourth Lake looking to the East.  The familiar ridgeline of Blue Mountain is visible in the distance.

Kaaterskill Falls Trail and Artist Rock are 2 of my favorite easy hikes. Both located in greene county. Artists rock, you can see both Connecticut and Massachusetts from the rock. I am actually hiking Artists Rock tomorrow.

Ryan,  Have a great hike.  The Catskills are awesome.  Post some pictures if you get the chance.  Hunted the mountains around Roscoe a few years back.  Very beautiful country.

Here are a few shots from an easy hike we've done, Chimney Bluffs State Park.   A bit west of Fairhaven on Lake Ontario.  Its a nice family hike and geologically very interesting.

I spent a lot summer days with my friends climbing around on Chimney Bluffs when I was a kid. Great adventure for a couple of 12 yr olds in a canoe, setting out from Sodus Point with a backpack full of bologna sandwiches and Oreo cookies for the day. Lots of cuts, scrapes, and bruises from what I remember. It wasn't even a State Park back then, so access was unlimited. After forty or so years, I might have to revisit.

The Gunks are great. That's Shawangunk, the ice caves are something to see and easy hiking, also the carriage trails on Minniwaska preserve are great. Great views.

Don't forget the Erie canal trail(s). Not much for panoramic views per se, but scenic and very interesting if you know some of the history.
