NeverSeenNorHeard
A young guy I work with asked me a question I didn't have an answer to. I'm hoping you could help me, as his questions were interesting. He asked me the following: "If you were my age (I'm assuming he's about 30 by the limited amount of grays on his head) and were planning on buying hunting land, would you buy in NY, or another state near NYC. I asked how far from NYC he would be willing to travel, he said 5 hours. His next question which I couldn't answer (because I never put any thought to it before) was: "If you wanted to buy property in another country (for hunting), what country would you choose and why." (I know he enjoys deer, turkey and waterfowl hunting) What would your advice be for this young man? BTW I'm pretty sure he only gun hunts

ATbuckhunter
I already have property in another country and its filled with boar, wild pheasant chukar, woodcock and quail. I would get my property with in region 3 because of the convenience.
dbHunterNY
Property in another country. Wouldn't do another country but Alaska instead. Great get away to during the summer to to decompress from NYC life. great fishing and everything else for game. Everything is expensive for land close to NYC. Id just buy land upstate. It's cheaper 5 hours north of the city and if it's undeveloped then taxes will be cheaper. Tow a camper with generator up for amenities. Buying a smaller piece here in NY so id look for land near a QDM co-op. Neighbors will watch your land more for ya as the warden presence. Also the hunting will be better and comparable to some big whitetail states in some co-ops.
