growalot
Probably won't be able to move tomorrow.... Actually did my PT exercises and added a couple of more miles to the bike and a mile on the elliptical. Then worked the upper body with free weights and the ab/back machine ...and rowing Feeling it in the shoulder blades...which is way better that the shoulder joints... Have to figure out what days and times will be the best(slow) to go in...at least one day will be after PT just to do the upperbody and core work...working on 3 days a week but have to have 2 per week to get insurance to pay me back...one way to keep a cheap person like me going...lol Can't be on "Restricted Duty" like this season and last due to dumb injuries...getting too old for that... Any body else starting a new routine this year...and I'm not talking one arm glass/bottle curls...lol Edited January 5, 2015 by growalot
loworange88
Yep, doing 3 or 4 days a week of yoga. No weights right now, I have a herniated disc and it ruined my summer of 2014, and much of my deer season. I am determined to be pain free and have my mobility back by the summer of 2015.
philoshop
Can curls for me. Bottles are just too heavy. HeHeHe. I really do admire your spirit, and wish you all the best! No changes here, just extensive stretching in the AM so that I can actually move. And then just keep moving all day until I get to the can-curls in the evening. Rinse and repeat. Doc
We just changed insurance companies, and they are the ones who pay our YMCA bill, so I went in to change the company for billing, and I could hardly find a parking spot. This New Years resolution stuff seems to have centered on exercise ..... lol. Apparently there's a lot of people that decided they need a fitness activity this year. I was in a head on car accident in 2005 and blew out discs in my back. The pain was unbearable for a year or so. Daily use of nacrotics and a TENS unit kept me sane. The docs suggested either back surgery (with no promises) OR implanting one of those internal TENS units (with an external remote) into my back to relieve the pain OR narcotics for the rest of my life. I started seeing a chiropractor 2-3x/week and he suggested trying exercise to strengthen the back muscles, as they might push the discs and joints into place and keep them there. I thought he was NUTS, as just sitting or standing put pressure on my back and caused me unbearable pain. Thought how could I possibly exercise? After weighing my options and doing research, I ended up doing Yoga, specifically focusing on the back. Within weeks, I was amazed at the results! Within a couple of months, I was back to being 100%!! No more narcotics or TENS unit! Really gently strengthens, tones, keeps joints from being sore/stiff, and stretches muscles you didn't even know you have! Helped me mentally to clear my head and focus also. I still do it a few times a week, just for those reasons. Hope it works for you too!

growalot
PT has a lot of stretching and balancing to loosen and lengthen those leg muscles inorder to help stabalize the knees...though I have to be very careful because I tear muscle rather easily ....not doing any of the weight training...just the stretching and it doesn't take much..and torn muscle tissue take for ever to heal..a flat footed heal lift took out my calf and a step down off 4" platform re-injured it and messed with the muscles around the plate in leg...still trying to train me to walk down steps and inclines with out keeping my left leg stiff...going up steps or hills ,not a problem. Thought shoulder would be sore today but not.....I go through a lengthy stretching routine before I even get out of bed in the morning. Amazing all the clicking and popping that happens getting everything back in place before I stand up...I often wonder who or what I fight in the middle of the night to get me so out of whack. If I deam, I have zero knowledge of them,save1-2 a year if that... I did a sleep study in Genessee Hospital years ago and drove them crazy coming in to reattach, leads....though did not have night terrors or other things they normally see with such movement...I just rolled and kicked and tossed and turned all night....I have been like that since well ealiest memory of 5 years old. I was never allowed a bunk bed because I often flung myself out of bed...Lol..... didn't do a lot of sleep overs as a kid.

I had the unbearable pain for about 3-4 months, and moderate/aggrivating pain for a few months leading upto and after the worst of it. I did PT and that helped some, excersize helped a little bit but didn't last long, the daily strain was exhausting. I am doing some yoga that works full body, and I add in lowerback and hamstring specific stretches at the end of my routine...it has helped alot, and I am feeling better than I have in months. I am still going to be cautious of over doing it. I have heard alot of good things about the DDP Yoga program, so I may try that after a few months. DR said I dont need surgery and the injections are optional, but I am hoping to not do those either.
