dbHunterNY
It's a 31 day season, plenty of time for mistakes. I don't get to hunt during the week... distance to the office and being a busy time of year it doesn't work to hunt mornings. So that leaves weekends. It's my wife's birthday that month plus it starts to warm up and stuff is going on during the weekends... like clock work every year. I usually get around 5 mornings to hunt with little time to scout. I'm relatively young though. I try not to make mistakes but we all do. Heck half those mornings things are botched by other hunters I know walking through the middle of the dang fields. I was working a couple big toms across a field then they turned and left. turns out my uncle was struttin through the middle of the adjacent field I was in. come on! it's all good though.
G-Man
I'm a quick hunter I take a few weeks to hunt in may (and plow and plant) so I'm up early but back.in by 830 or 9 am. It's kind of a joke among my friends but turkeys spook easy so the theory is go out roster night before get up early pick which way birds will fly down get I n close and soft call and wait. Some time s it's quick and bird in hand by 610am and back in for nap . sometimes birds go other way. I just think chasing them around and education them is not wise as they will roost in same area again if not spooked. And tomorrow is other day. I understand the stay after them till noon hunters who have limited time, it just isn't for me to much else to do...can't waste the hours running around after them ,have work to do...lol
landtracdeerhunter
Early May is such a great time to get out. The air seems so much fresher, birds are chirping, and the area starts a nice fresh look of green up. Sometimes, I forget the reason being out , getting caught up in natures new beginning. Not until that first gobble in the faintest of light, do I come back to my senses. Oh ya, I'm turkey hunting, LOL.The main thing is to enjoy your time out there. Getting a bird just adds all that much more to a great time already.

dbHunterNY
There's always golf. I'd never give up hunting for golf. when the woodchucks are hiding this summer in the tall hay fields, I've got that covered. new set with not a single swing on them sitting down stairs. I'm good. those practice balls that don't go far are great for shotgun practice. kill two birds with one stone.
2012_taco
It looks like I will be going to Ohio to take my nephew out turkey hunting last week of April. I call this dress rehearsal. lol I will make a list before going and add to it as I figure out what I forgot. Water bottle, themol cell, etc. Can't wait it has been a long cold winter and I am looking forward to hearing the mornings wake up from the turkey woods.
