WNYBuckHunter
So here is what I've heard from this thread. I'm sure wnybuck will explain how I misread... 1. Concert to raise awareness for gun safety and mental health is really a gun grab 2. We should no longer have schools as gun free zones because in the 60's I hunted rabbits with my teachers using a single shot 20 gauge, and instead of being at work, I'd be there with my CC to prevent the massacre. 3. We should arm our teachers, so long as they have a CC and no additional training. Forgetting that most teachers are liberals and have never held a gun let alone fired one... They go to school for 6 years to be underpaid and should also be required to serve as security guards. Should they refuse? They cannot be a teacher. 4. Most guys with gun safes leave their keys and combos in easy spots to find. I for one keep my bedside safe key in my long gun cabinet (finger combo) and vise versa. 5. A door lockout would prevent someone from just breaking the glass or getting in through a window. 6. The sawed off shotgun is more lethal than a 30round AR. 7. You can't prevent or decrease illegal gun sales, so remove all legislation and background checks. 8. We should ignore we live in a different world where many kids come from broken homes and have mental issues and we should not raise awareness for these kids... We should just follow communist China's path and prevent breeding. No constitutional issues there of course. 9. Hunters who own guns and would like to see some level of control are worse people than the Antigun group. What'd I miss? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Well, since you brought my name up, I guess Ill chime in... #1 The concert is not "to raise awareness for gun safety and mental health", its to support an organization that actively advocates and works toward the addition of gun control laws and gun/magazine bans. Do a little looking into what they do rather than just read what the "about us" on their website says. #3, who said anything about no training? Most teachers are liberals, etc? Broad brush much?(No teacher I know of is underpaid. I know a bunch of them.) #6 At close range, shooting at huddled up people, a sawed off is just as, if not more effective than an AR. Theres a reason why police and military use them for close quarters situations. #7 those are your words, I dont see anyone saying that. Point it out if Im wrong. What has been said is that a gun law only effects those that follow it, so it will not prevent an illegal sale.

dbHunterNY
haven't read all the disagreements back and forth. I've got no doubt Tim McGraw or really even those apart of Sandy Hook Promise have hearts in the right place. They experienced loss that I can't even nor would I want to wrap my head around. I did look into the org and what they're about. some goals are very good but it didn't take long to figure out they're going a bit off the deep end. I truly hope that they won't become another ridiculous ignorant gun control group. Readily apparent they make it seem like they aren't at first glance but that's just not the case. they've taken stance and reference studies that make claims about gun owners that are just stupid. for example, they've taken a stance that implies, if I own more than 6 guns, it's very likely i'll have anger issues and be a lunatic that is mentally on the fence whether or not to go on a killing spree. basically unless you're a monk carrying a grasshopper from a roadway and has never raised your voice above library conversation level, they think you should not own a gun. i'm for probably more "gun control" things then I care to post here. I feel sorry for what they went through more than some forum post on the internet could convey, but judging me as a gun owner won't get there kids back or prevent someone else's "whole world" from being ripped from them at such an early age. Even more than what you can find on the organization, look into the background of the leaders and founders of the organization, what their prior position and an actions were on gun control. That really tells the story behind the group.
